22.01.2022 Heart-warming to receive an actual handwritten letter (remember those) from one of our students. Keeping this one by my desk as a reminder of what is important. #literacy #reading #childrensbooks #closethegap #csr #philanthropy #educationalequity
20.01.2022 Loving how picture books look on the HD screen of our devices this year. Great functions on our library platform including narration, large font, dictionary and more. Thanks to again to Lenovo for your support. Our best ever device! #beginningreaders #loveon #childrensbooks #lenovoE8
20.01.2022 Term 3 and home schooling is a reality for the majority of our kids in Victoria. Our engagement with parents and teachers means that we get to see all of the extra effort they are making to ensure that learning continues. It is hard not to be impressed by their resilience. I love that we can contribute by bringing quaility reading into homes right now. #teachers #socialfabric #literacy #closethegap #parentsasteachers #resilience

16.01.2022 Folks we're really excited about giving kids access to great books. We've identified 29 ebooks by fabulous Indigenous authors that we want to add to our collection. If you are feeling generous, please consider donating. The total cost for these ebooks is $390.91. The benefits of this are that donations are 100% tax-deductible, 100% of the benefits will go to Indigenous kids who want to read. Please share this post. 06.01.2022 Off to a flying start! Our first week for the 2020 E-reading program is now complete. Plenty of challenges to contend with. My personal highlight, 268 books have been checked by kids from our library so far. Lots of excitement from teachers, parents and kids. We'll be working really hard to make sure that these kids thrive and learn!

04.01.2022 One to watch. A dedicated full-colour reading device without the distractions of a tablet!
04.01.2022 A huge thank you to Caroline and all the team at the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation (JALF). Since 2018 JALF have been fundraising for us and this has enabled us to keep our digital library filled with books that our kids are eager to read. Books are a wonderful resource for children and we are so proud to be able to partner with you to support Indigenous kids. #readingisfundamental #generosity #philanthropy #janeausten
03.01.2022 Last year @KingWoodMallesons delivered 51,292 pro bono legal service hours to community organisations and individuals across Australia. We were one of those organisations. I can't speak for anyone else but I can say that we are grateful for the support and advice we received through KWM. As a small non-profit having access to quality professional legal advice makes a difference. #csr #givingbacktothecommunity #literacy #aboriginalaustralia #readingisfundamental #childrensliterature #educationalequity #probono #kmwcommunityimpact
03.01.2022 We've had an absolutely punishing workload these last few weeks. Lots of great news to follow about our kids this year. Last week I learnt that one of our former students, Jack Mailman won the School-based Apprentice of the Year for his region in Queensland. So proud of this young man! Jack's journey with us began back in 2014 were as an 11-year-old he became a prolific reader with us in our E-reading program. He was strongly supported by his family and teachers at St Monica’s Primary School, Oakey. Jack was originally featured in The Australian newspaper back in December 2014. You can find this story here: https://lnkd.in/gi3giGi. Congratulations Jack. Well done!
02.01.2022 Last night our Engagement Team sat down to select 100 Indigenous kids to participate in our E-reading program this year. Special thanks to our mates at Lenovo for the tech support (again). It really makes our job easier! #csr # #education #reading #gratitude #indigenousreadingproject #closethegap #literacy #loveon
02.01.2022 We're halfway through E-reading program. So far kids have checked out 999 books - a great effort. What I like about our digital library model is that kids choose the titles themselves. The other main benefit is that our library never closes. After school, on the weekend, and during school holidays we have our doors open. Having an excellent digital collection helps us to create great partnerships with schools and families. It also allows kids to kids to become agents of their... learning. Companies can make a donation to our library collection at any time. 100% of these funds will go to reusable digital books. If you are passionate about reading and learning please get in touch. We would love to make our library bigger! #educationalequity #literacymatters #closethegap #lenovo #heartrubik #digitalage #childrensbooks #childrensliterature #stemeducation #education #reading #literacy #librarians #ebooks #educationtechnology #successtory #aboriginalaustralia #inthistogether2020 See more
