20.01.2022 Delicious, pesticide and artificial fertilizer free mulberries! A favourite for our kids, they have been picking and eating them daily as they ripen on the tree. Haven't even given the possums a chance to try them yet! Given how young this Mulberry tree is, and the fact that its growing in a pot, the yield has been impressive! . .... . . . . . . . . #mulberry #berries #gardens #trees #food #foodsecurity #foodie #qld #qldbusiness #brisbanecity #sydney #goldcoast #sunshinecoast #flowers #pollination #growing See more

10.01.2022 Growing food doesn't mean you only concern oneself with plants. In order to achieve balanced ecosystems our whole team works in conservation as a means of responsible integrated food production. Pollinators are not the only crucial component for healthy food. With Indigenous Australian complex science at the core of our practice, means that our obligation and responsibility lies with the overall health of Country! Not only do our colleagues rehabilitate pollinators, shout out... to @indigibeerescue team, our work extends further to our rescue and rehab work with bluetounge lizards with the Platnium Bluetounge team. The humble Bluey is an essential component for micro-biome health as a form of insect control and keystone food source for dependant species for example birds, kookaburra's and eagles etc. Here more beautiful, healthy young bluetounges born from a rehabilitated female released back to play their part! . . . . #indigenousfood #foodsecurity #nsw #bluetounge #brisbanecity #qldbusiness #australiangardens #australia #release #wild #wildlife #conservation #baby #foodproduction #lizardsofinstagram See more

04.01.2022 Thanks to the prolific pollination from our rehabilitation efforts with @indigibeerescue we have A beautiful supply of organic kumquats! These can be consumed in a variety of ways: jam, candy, liqueur/limoncello, cake, jelly, tart, syrup or spiced! With an incredible sour taste fresh off the tree, it is a great one to experiment with the variety of flavours in the kitchen! . .... . . . #brisbanecity #foodie #food #kumquat #organic #regenerativeagriculture #urbanfarming #trees #fruit #bees #indigibeerescue #community #foodwaste #recycle #cooking #goldcoastfood See more

01.01.2022 Just doing our bit to eat invasive introduced plants and getting a nice harvest of the fruit, we try to eat them to defeat them! Pitanga, suriname cherry, brazilian cherry, cayenne cherry, cerisier carré, monkimonki kersie or ñangapirí is native to South America is Low in cholesterol and sodium is a great source of potassium, vitamin A and Vitamin C! Eugenia uniflora is great in jams and chilli chutney. To enhance the sweetness and reduce waxiness put in the fridge! This plan...t escaped cultivation farms and is now one of the top 200 invasive plant species in Australia. Traditionally eaten by Indigenous South American peoples' this was appropriated not as food but as a western garden ornamental plant for hedges etc (bit sad if you don't use a plant for food or medicine). These plants have made it into the Australian bush and rainforest and left unchecked have become thick and choke out most of our native plant species, seeds float in water and potentially destroy native plant habitats along water courses. They are in fruit from September to November here, so if you see one, harvest all the fruit you can see and if possible pick up fruit off the ground and dispose safely to limit the spread...our unique Australian environment is depending on humans to do what we do best....CONSUME them to extinction! . . . . . #conservation #foodwaste #argentina #brazil #brisbanecity #goldcoast #sunshinecoast #farming #ornaments #jam #foodforest #introduced #invasivespecies #australiangardens #foodwaste #eat #eatthemtodefeatthem #indigenousfood #indigenoussolutions See more
