25.01.2022 In todays busy business world technical skills are not enough to advance in your career and could even see you pushed out of the workforce. This is particularly true for older working people who many not have updated their soft skills in many decades. let us help you achieve your career goals in 2018.

23.01.2022 Positive news from Liverpool Councilhttps://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1769022189781782&id=342713579079324

22.01.2022 Time for local government to move into the 21st century when looking for answers to recycling issues and a way to save money on roads. it will also be a big plus with the community, who want to feel part of a solution not part of the problem. Roads are essentially made from oil which adds to the pollution problem.

20.01.2022 Sometimes we need to take matters into our own hands to improve our own career prospects. with many organisations slow to understand and recognise the importance of soft skills, is it time to upgrade your own skills and more on. https://www.hays.com.au/press-releases/HAYS_1919172 AISS Training can help www.aisstraining.com.au

19.01.2022 This is why youth unemployment is so high. We don’t have an unemployment problem we have an under education problem. 40% of school children are disengaged, is it any wonder. For Australia to compete in this global Economy we need smart young people entering the workplaces.

19.01.2022 I had a wonderful day training with staff at Wellington Shire Council

18.01.2022 A must read post I have worked around the local government sector for many years, I’ve been screaming this message as loud as I can for the past ten years. But for the most part my messages have fallen on deaf ears. The time to act is NOW or it will be way to late. ... https://www.governmentnews.com.au/report-rings-alarm-bells/ See more

13.01.2022 Had a great couple of days working in Orange NSW.

12.01.2022 Indigo Training have been working with many councils over the past few years to get them ready for the coming in 2020 of the NDIS. when this comes into effect will mean councils will need to address the difficult topic of "selling their services" as the consume will then have a far greater choice of care providers. This is an interesting speech well worth a look. https://www.youtube.com/watch

11.01.2022 Off to Sydney I hope it's warmer and sunnier up there. Melbourne is cold today.

11.01.2022 Feeling the love today, so nice when you know you've connected in the training room! Rum delivered a fun, interactive and motivational session which got us all talking. His genuine, playful nature allowed the group to fully relax without realising we were absorbing oodles of information about how to improve our team culture and embrace a customer focused approach. The day was filled with stories, reflections, learnings and plenty of laughs. We can’t wait to have Rum back to facilitate more excellent sessions. Emily Dunn, Human Resources Officer

09.01.2022 A good read https://www.facebook.com/179360442488657/posts/535611433530221/

08.01.2022 We have Many government clients, if you are one of them this is an important read. In government communication skills and soft skills are not given the priority they need and all to often there is not enough budget directed to train people in this IMPORTANT area.

08.01.2022 People and dogs have much in common. We don’t trust unpredictable people. They make us nervous and stressed. https://www.facebook.com/1132209839/posts/10214984834670968/

04.01.2022 Does Soft = Bad / Weak / unimportant I’d like to ask a question, it’s a big question and may cause some to respond negatively, but none the less I feel it needs to be asked for the sake of the future of Australian SME businesses and government departments. So here goes - Does the term soft skills make some people feel inadequate or wish to dismiss these important skills simply because of the word soft? ... Australia has many SME’s and government departments many of these organisation’s are run by people over the age of forty who gained their basic skills and knowledge in the last century. There have been many articles and studies on the need for softs skills in today’s business environment to drive innovation, create a customer centric culture, attract a skilled workforce and to generally compete in the 21st century. However getting business owners and executive level staff in government to accept this is challenging. Intellectually they know it and can see the need in their own organisation’s for soft skills, but can’t bring themselves to act on this information. I equate it to health, again many studies have been written about health and the fact that some will feel something is wrong with their body and sometimes even see that something is wrong with their body, but still won’t go to the doctor and even when they do go to the doctor if the advice they are given is to change life style or take up yoga for example to relive stress, it is often ignored or modified to the point of irrelevance. Is the resistance to Soft Skills an ingrained response to anything that emasculates the psyche? In the 20th century masculinity and productivity equated to strength, endurance power and hard / technical skills, these were the skills and the attitude you needed to succeed in the 20th century business world. It wasn’t about talking or collaborating it was about doing and giving clear orders to be followed to the letter. But as with so many other changes that digital disruption has brought or wrought on business and society at large, means this approach to creating a sustainable business is no longer viable. What does it mean to be a businessperson in this new business pyramid? In my humble view, it means letting go of the past and embracing the future recognising the cultural shift, recognizing that communication and collaboration is the medicine you and your business need to survive, to understand the strength of empathy, emotional intelligence and the difference between true leadership and directed management. The solution -To invest in your people’s soft skills as much as plant, equipment and technical training for at the end of the day. People still do business with people and if people have changed and you have not, will you and your business survive in this communication centric world www.aisstraining.com.au
