20.01.2022 Happy Anniversary Indigo Chinese Medicine In all the chaos I almost forgot to celebrate ICM's 5th anniversary. From humble beginnings in Beechworth to now operating out of my dream clinic with Reproductive Medicine Albury, from zero stock dispensary to almost 200 raw herbs (and counting), dozens of patent pills/capsules/tinctures, over 5,000 consultations and treatments, countless scripts written and dispensed, and a whole stack of learning about people, health, life and myself. It's been a wild ride, a tough ride. I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm very proud to be serving the Border community #alburywodonga #borderlife #thisistheborder #Chinesemedicine #hereforyou

17.01.2022 | Spring Back Pain | I thought this script worthy to post in the feed because it's a little on the fringes way to think of back pain. This script is geared to regulate the Liver Qi, and scatter cold, and alleviate pain. It can treat a variety of presentations including menstrual disorders, hernia pain, testicular pain, flank pain. Here we are using it for acute back pain in the Spring season with a background of Liver and Kidney yin deficiency. Back pain is in the sacrum,... hips and radiates to lower abdomen. Other symptoms included headaches, disrupted digestion and a little cranky. What this means is that the wind of Spring is aggravating the Liver giving rise to Liver Qi stasis pattern symptoms. We use herbs to treat the symptoms (branch) and disharmony (root) to prevent the problem recurring or spiralling out of control. #chinesemedicine #chineseherbalmedicine #backpain #springwind #alburywodonga

14.01.2022 Qi Gong | It looks utterly rediculous and oh-so-funny normal speed OR time lapse, but I have to tell you it feels so good and very invigorating especially outdoors in a glorious late autumn morning. We are doing @katie_brindle morning routine here: 1. Shaking the tree 2. Tapping 3. Turning the waist 4. Tip toes... 5. Lifting the sky 6. Swimming Dragons 7. Spinning mandarins Consolidating with tapping. #yangshen #selfcare #chinesemedicine #meridian #moveyourqi

06.01.2022 | The false dream of living germ free | . I am definitely not here to tell you to stop practicing strict hygiene measures, and there is a very important role (life and death) with common-sense hygiene practices. I am concerned that the backlash of COVID hygiene practices are going to generate a disempowering and fear-driven take on wellbeing. . Our immune system is incredibly sophisticated technology with many checkpoints all over the body... in the lymphatic system stemming from the throat (pathogen entry point) to the groin, to the microbe dependent brain in our gut. . Chinese medicine has it's own take on immunity and here's a few tips to help prevent sickness and boost immunity: * Wear seasonal appropriate clothing and footwear. All too often I see exposed skin in the cooler months. It may feel warm out but you're asking your Wei Qi/first line of defence to work harder and weaken over time when a light layer is all it takes. Base layers such as singlets a must, cover your feet, lower legs and neck providing a valuable layer over precious meridians. * I want to warn against self detoxing. If a detox is warranted this should be done in conjunction with your CM practitioner (depending on excesses and deficiencies). * Gradually increase fibre in the diet - go slowly to avoid gastric upsets. This is an important part of a complicated microbiome cultivating process in the gut, specifically Small Intestine. * Focus on whole and seasonal foods (organic preferred), and rotate grains regularly. * Regular Qi Gong practice to enhance energetics of the Lungs and Spleen (I follow the delightful @katiebrindle's daily routine). * Herbal medicines and acupuncture are superior preventative treatments. #chinesemedicine #acupuncture #herbalmedicine #yangshen #selfcare #immunity #preventativemedicine #alburywodongawellbeing #albury #thisistheborder See more

05.01.2022 You say Goodbye, and I say Hello Endings aren't always so bad. In the vein of The Beatles' profound tune "Goodbye, Hello" closing the door on one chapter can bring about new opportunities. In this month's newsletter we cover some useful time-tested Yang Shen tips as we say goodbye to Winter, and hello Spring https://bit.ly/3mqyKdl

04.01.2022 Australians eat about 50,000 tonnes per year, but the global tuna industry is plagued by destructive fishing practices, illegal fishing, human rights abuses, and wasteful ‘bycatch’ from the use of FADs that kill sharks, turtles and other marine life. While we're mostly aware of sustainable impact of fishing, there's is a human rights ethical side worth considering in your choice making, as some fisheries exploit slave labour to catch your meal. Here's a guide to buying sustainable and ethical tuna in Australia. Also download Good Fish app to help make you fish choices more sustainable https://goodfish.org.au
