07.01.2022 Today is Rare Disease Day... it’s a day where people share their stories in the hope to create awareness for people living with rare diseases globally I decided to share mine which is completely out of my comfort zone but in the hope that I can help create awareness about a rare disease called ECD... you may be saying what the hell is that I have never heard of that yep that was me back in Nov 2018 when I was diagnosed with Erdheim Chester Disease a very rare blood cance...r and when I mean rare there are under 1000 people worldwide living with this disease, im the only person I know living with this disease pretty scary But I am also one of the lucky ones, due to a very early diagnosis caused from chronic knee pain my amazing chiro Lara insisted on sending me for MRI (clearly not expecting the outcome we got) but because she did and of the great work of the radiographers my disease was found and its not a easy one to detect.. After a shit load of tests and a confirmed diagnosis my life was thrown into the crazy world of cancer one I hope most people will never know. This past year I have found my flow and I live a pretty normal life, yes its changed a little I get pretty tired and my body aches but whose doesn’t lol I honestly find myself to be extremely lucky I have a great support from family and my oncologist and integrative team and together we try all sorts of medications and treatments in the hope that the disease is eradicated from my body or at the very least lay dormant for the rest of my life. I am currently on immunotherapy injection weekly, blood tests fortnightly and PET scans 6 monthly and also a big believer in natural and integrative treatments and medications which i include into my daily life My hope in sharing my story is that you will share this with family and friends on social media so it helps create awareness for ECD and other rare diseases amongst the medical professionals and will help increase early detection and hopefully find a cure Thanks for taking the time reading my story, please share Nat x #endecd #ecdawareness #fuckcancer
