24.01.2022 Will be drawn shortly - don't miss out! https://rafflelink.com.au/ico-oct2020

22.01.2022 We're back ... physical distancing rehearsals start on Thursday 25 June for winds and 2 July for strings. Rehearsals will be fortnightly for each section to comply with physical distancing and reduced numbers in the hall. (Please let us know if you are coming to rehearsal as we are being very strict with numbers.) Come and join us for Beethoven symphony 4.

18.01.2022 Our Back with Beethoven concert on Sunday is SOLD OUT! If you missed out on buying a concert ticket, you can still buy RAFFLE TICKETS. This is a raffle that gives twice - your ticket purchase supports the running costs of the orchestra; and the prize - a $200 voucher to the music venue of your choice - supports Australian Arts. You can choose any music venue or event that supports Australian musos - it might be one of the major concert halls or it might be your local pub with live gigs. Your choice... https://www.rafflelink.com.au/icosept2020

18.01.2022 so we got it right...

16.01.2022 Our first physically distanced rehearsal ... SOOO good to be back together.

16.01.2022 Calling viola players: With our expanded violin section we'd love to have a couple of extra viola players to round out the sound for our September 13 concert: Beethoven 4; Saint-Saëns Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso for violin and orchestra; Respighi Ancient Airs and Dances. Rehearsals on Thursdays evenings in Chelmer - we'd love to hear from you!

15.01.2022 Julia Hill, our Mendelssohn soloist in June last year, is live-streaming a short 10 minute concert next Friday 3rd. #KeepTheMusicGoing

11.01.2022 Our wonderful violin soloist from last year, Julia Hill, is helping organise a concert to raise funds for MUSE, which aims to provide music education and instruments to those who can’t afford it. October 25th, 2 - 3pm at the Women’s College Playhouse, UQ, featuring performers from Queensland Conservatorium. Please support this great cause. https://www.facebook.com/events/1205294466514897/

10.01.2022 And here's a diversion into the visual arts ... people being asked to recreate their favourite art works at home. My favourite is the pipe...

10.01.2022 Buy a ticket to our raffle that gives twice. Win a $200 voucher to the music venue of your choice (anywhere in Australia). During a year when the arts sector has been decimated by the pandemic, your raffle ticket helps raise much needed funds for the ongoing costs of running our orchestra. And the prize supports live music venues that are also needing our support. Thank you for your support of Community Arts. https://www.rafflelink.com.au/icosept2020

09.01.2022 a few observations from our first online musical gathering last Thursday: 1) Sitting in the back row with the clarinets I usually only get to see the back of everyone’s heads at rehearsal. But on Zoom I could see everyone’s faces all the time. And we all have name tags (except John who is Liz)! 2) It’s an odd mix of visual and auditory experiences - I felt the Solfege session was like having a personalised one-on-one session with Greta, while watching everyone else also havin...g a one-on-one session at the same time. 3) The rhythm session was a scream to look at - with all the tiny delays in everyone’s video streaming it looked like a dog’s breakfast of rhythms. Note to self: look only at Greta or I’ll get too distracted. Excited about learning Solfege...

09.01.2022 We'll done Julia.

03.01.2022 Some Mozart Mambo to brighten your day

02.01.2022 Congratulations to our raffle winner Charmian Beabout - with ticket #166.

01.01.2022 Please support our raffle that gives twice. The prize is a $200 voucher to the music venue of your choice. It could be the major performing arts complex in your state or you could choose your local pub that pays your neighbour's best friend's cousin's band for a Friday night gig. We'll buy the prize-winner a $200 voucher to any venue that pays musicians. Let's get together and support Australian musicians. And when you buy a ticket you are, of course, also supporting ICO. https://www.rafflelink.com.au/ico-oct2020
