08.01.2022 THOM BROWNE LUNCHES EXCLUSIVE TENNIS COLLECTION ON FARFETCH GAME: To mark the opening of his Albemarle Street store in London, the first in the United Kingdom, Thom Browne hosted a tennis tournament on July 1st, 2017. SET: The brutalist architecture at the Golden Lane and Barbican Estates in the City of London provided the tournament a mundane concrete backdrop. Designed by Chamberlin, Powell and Bon who were informed by Corbusian principles, the iconic housing estates were p...rime examples of modern living at the time of their construction. Tennis matches took place at the Golden Lane Estate quadrangle, presided over by an umpire with two ball boys, while spectators watched from the sidelines. Following the tournament, guests enjoyed a picnic of cucumber sandwiches and cakes by the fountains of the Barbican. MATCH: Tennis players wore shrunken white cotton pique blazers tipped in navy grosgrain with engraved tennis racquet gold buttons, cropped tailored trousers, pleated calf-length skirts and terrycloth head and wristbands. In matching silhouettes, spectators wore white linen suiting tipped with ivory silk grosgrain, oxford shirts and shirt dresses, with black linen ties held in place by a sterling silver tie bar, and white suede brogues. The Thom Browne Tennis Collection, including a white ripstop nylon tracksuit, will be available for purchase exclusively for one week at the Thom Browne store in London, after which it will be found in all Thom Browne stores and Farfetch.com. #thombrowne #farfetch
