23.01.2022 I’ve been wanting to add a Zadie Jumpsuit by Paper Theory to my ever growing to-make list for a while but this Zadie Top hack by Mac in our Minamo print by Otsukiyumi has sealed the deal! 23.01.2022 This is Untitled Thought’s latest pattern - the Mathilde Wrap. It was released at the start of the month and I had the pleasure of sewing it up in the testing phase! When I read that this pattern was designed to be the ultimate secret pyjamas I knew I wanted to make one! I made it in a burnout jersey from my stash and it certainly delivered. It’s super comfy and fits into my wardrobe perfectly.... I’ve paired it with one of the many colourful print pants mad in fabric from my shop. This patchwork print is sadly sold out but there are lots of other fun designs to discover here: https://www.indybindy.com.au/shop/

23.01.2022 Hello my friends!! I’m sorry I have been so silent on here. And a BIG thank you for hanging around!! The last few months have been a real time of change. Let me give you a quick update. I’d love to hear what you’re up to too - let me know in the comments or drop me a message! So we’ve moved from one decade to another: 2019 - 2020 and for me personally from my 30s to my 40s! I also moved my family and business from Japan to Australia. This meant moving from Winter to Summer, ...from ski trips to bushfire fueled smokey skies. It’s new schools and a new home and a new normal for all of us. I was so sad to leave Tokyo along with everything and everyone we love there. But the beauty of running this wonderful business and specialising in Japanese indie fabrics means I’ll be back! I’d like to say it will be business as usual but that’s not the case. I have really exciting things planned for Indy Bindy in the year ahead!! Keep an eye out here or sign up to my newsletter to be sure you don’t miss anything: https://www.indybindy.com.au

22.01.2022 How beautiful does this Makumo Botan Print look in this throw pillow? One of many beautiful customers, Gay, sent me the note below and it truly made my heart swell. Getting to see what customers make with the fabrics we both love is one of my favourite things about my job!!... ‘At the very last minute I jumped in and ordered a meter of the Makumo Botan Blue! I didn’t have a plan. I just wanted to experience /have a piece of it!I loved the story of the making! Finally, I decided to make pillow slip covers so I can enjoy it everyday!!! It was a wonderful experience ordering, receiving and working with the beautiful fabric and I am excited to do it again!!!’ If you want to read more about the designers and their unique story you can find it here: https://indybindy.com.au/meet-the-designers/makumo-textiles/ And here: https://www.instagram.com/p/B3RrXwUAs8P/

Check it out - let me know what you think of it! https://www.seamwork.com//living-in-japan-inspired-me-to-o

20.01.2022 Excited to have the first to pieces of my capsule wardrobe sewn! I see a wrap skirt and sleeveless top in my future.. Then back to the remaining 5 items planned for the capsule!

16.01.2022 I finally made the Sapporo Coat pattern by Papercut Patterns (the updated version) in some pink wool I had set aside in my stash since last year!! It has little flecks of blue and darker pink, and I’m completely in love! I love the roomy fit and that I can fit voluminous sleeved tops under it with ease. It feels polished and chic yet oh-so-comfy! If only I had added pockets to the lining I could wear this coat inside out and saved myself from striking the Wanna buy a watch?... pose every time I want to show off my fabulous lining! This is one of my all time favourite fabrics by Mannine! This print has now sold out but it’s a perfect example of designer Manri’s work. I love the hue, the drape, the slight sheen and the fact that Manri has filled it with her drawings of pups! This print features a Bearded Collie, two Boxers and two Borzoi along with their favourite toys! You can her other fabrics here: https://indybindy.com.au/meet-the-des/design-house-mannine/

10.01.2022 Friends, I need your help. I’m looking for the right cause to contribute 5% of all profits from Indy Bindy Fabrics. Given my previous career in what feels like a different life, I’d love it to be an organisation doing great work in sexual and reproductive health. However I’m very open to hearing about other amazing work that is happening around the world or here in Australia. Where do you donate to or recommend? 04.01.2022 How are you consuming your books these days? Are you an audiobook fan or is it only the real deal for you? I have recently started trying out Audible. So far, I’m loving being able to listen as I sew, drive or even butter the toast! ... The book I’m listening to at the moment is Loving What Is by Byron Katie. I’ve hit a stumbling block at the first activity that I have to actually physically fill out but the insight she has given me in the first part of the book has struck a chord. I more often find myself taking a beat to look for the best in people and situations (e.g. the woman screaming out her car window at me this morning!) and it’s making my days much more pleasant!
