23.01.2022 An inspiration to women everywhere!

22.01.2022 I haven't posted for a while, a short break was needed to clear my head and focus for the new year. Unfortunately, it seems the need is not there, for a bed and breakfast that offers rest, respite and guidance for parents and their babes. So whilst I am not closing my doors, I am slightly changing my business. I am going to continue to offer the retreat for families in need and open up the unit to those, who just want a restful weekend away. Food can and will still be provided by the farm and the views are still magnificent. I am hoping I organise the new fb page and website quickly. I think the page will be named something like Crossover Creek Farm Bed and Breakfast. Title needs some work... so suggestions gratefully accepted!

20.01.2022 Can't wait! Honey is soon to be on the menu. I have lots and lots of very busy bees and frames laden with deliciousness

18.01.2022 2 cold coffees at work, topped off with another one when I visited the grand kids tonight, maybe I'll get a hot one later...

18.01.2022 Merry Chritmas to all! I hope you have a joyous day and you and your babies cope with all the excitement!

17.01.2022 No one ever really talks about the stress and trauma of premature delivery and the time spent in the NICU. I think sharing this is probably very overdue.

14.01.2022 Each year I plant broad beans because I love them when they are small and young, nothing like the enormous ones in the shops. This year I thought I had a really poor crop, they were wind battered, parrot attacked. So I decided to strip the bushes thinking I would get a kg or 2. 8kg later... Friends, family and visitors guess what we're eating? #springbounty #countrylife #bountifulharvest #bedandbreakfast #infantsleepretreat #midwife #maternelandchildhealthnurse

13.01.2022 This year has been weird in the vegie garden, heaps of greens, but zucchinis have been so slow to start that I have missed them at a good size and now have enormous ones, and we are half way through January and the tomatoes are just starting. This time last year I already had heaps of sauce. The orchard is laden with fruit, so yipee lots of summer desserts. Seasonal eating means waiting, something I am not good at, so please garden gods can I have some tomatoes and capsicum soon!

13.01.2022 This is an enormous article on self soothing, its has a great explanation on baby brain growth and the effects of CIO or controlled comforting. Its does make some correlations on SIDS and controlled comforting that I am not so sure about. I think it is definitely worth a read. https://sarahockwell-smith.com//self-settling-what-really/

11.01.2022 This is one of the reasons I love living and working in the country, I am standing at the kitchen sink washing dishes being entertained by the antics of my feathered friends. #countrylife #birdwatching #bedandbreakfast #infantsleepretreat #midwife #maternelandchildhealthnurse

10.01.2022 Feeling really tired this morning and sitting down doing nothing but feeling super guilty about all the work that I should be doing... found this photo, now to be brave

08.01.2022 Lol this seems about right!

06.01.2022 It spring!! And lambing season on the farm, so much joy from watching a bunch of lambs playing chase around the dam. They move so fast and are so exuberant they are impossible to photograph.

02.01.2022 I so agree, with this. It breaks my heart to see babies crying and mums trying to ignore it for the good of the baby. The is so much well meant advice that should be ignored

02.01.2022 So very very true!

01.01.2022 This morning I was chatting to a friend, she told me about someone whose daughter was struggling with her baby sleeping and also the comments and criticisms she received from others about expressing and bottle feeding. Our immediate responses was happy mum, happy baby, but this got me thinking, how many times do we comment or offer "well meant" advice. How is that perceived? Are we unwittingly hurting the ones who most need our support, in a time of intense emotion, exhaustion and transition.

01.01.2022 Its always good when the science backs up what we know in our hearts.

01.01.2022 So excited, Infant Sleep Retreat finally up and running! Looking forward to working with lots of lovely families
