04.01.2022 **MONTHLY MEMBER FEATURE- AUGUST - THE PEIPIS" Our BJJ journey began Jan 2017 with our daughter Lilyana starting at age 4. She was a natural and moved into Mighty Monkeys, then to the Elite Squad at age 6. She competed in 5 comps in 2019 taking away 2 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronze and it was at one of her comps that Amanda & Daniel (Mum and Dad) decided to give it a go, with Dan starting in March 2019 & Amanda the following month. Ashton also began at 3yrs old in the fun & fitness class. Daniel entered his first comp in November 2019 and won 2 golds with the hope of competing again soon. We love the fitness, skills learnt to defend ourselves and the friends weve made.

04.01.2022 MONTHLY MEMBER FEATURE "EMILY CHRISTENSEN" Hi, my name is Emily Christensen and I am 16 years old. I started doing MMA classes about 1 years ago and only this year started doing the BJJ classes. I really like doing both classes as it gives me a better understanding of the different martial arts. Originally, I started training once a week, as I had work and schoolwork that I needed to stay on top of, however over this year I have really become more addicted to coming to tr...aining and attending classes. Now I only work on the weekends so I can come to classes 5 days a week. The reason I started MMA, was because when I finish school, I would like to join the police force and thought that it would be a good idea to gain an understanding of how to fight and be able to control a situation. I got hooked on MMA and decided to try out the BJJ class and got hooked on that as well. After a while, I found that even though I was doing it because I needed it in the future, I really enjoyed being able to fight and it is great for my fitness. After a few months I started getting fitter and focused more on my training and fitness. Now I do both classes every night and the womans BJJ class on Friday. My goal is to become skilled in both the martial arts and eventually compete in both MMA and BJJ. The environment in the classes is amazing as everyone is willing to help and have a chat. I was quite intimidated when I first started, as being the only girl most of the time, surrounded by all these guys and trying to spar with them was quite frightening. But after getting to know the guys they were really understanding of the fact that I am not the best fighter and smaller than them. Now I really like sparing and doing technique with the boys as they are not as full-on as I thought they would be. In the BJJ class, the woman that attend are great people to roll with and talk to. Overall going to training is the highlight of my day, and I hope that one day I will be able to get in the octagon and achieve my goals. See more
