24.01.2022 We have an important update regarding our Brisbane Libraries. All 33 Brisbane Libraries will be closed from Monday 23 March until further notice to help slow... the spread of coronavirus. Loan periods have been extended until 30 June 2020 for all physical library materials currently on loan and all new loans. Borrowing limits for physical items have been extended from 20 up to 60 items per member. Book return chutes and bins usually available after-hours have been opened for customers to return items at any time without entering the library. Library WI-FI facilities will remain free and accessible around library buildings. Residents without an existing membership can apply online via Council's website for a temporary digital membership from Monday to access the digital collection. 22.01.2022 NAPLAN has been around for more than a decade. In that time our classrooms have changed. And the way we teach our students has changed.... So the QLD, Victorian, NSW and ACT Governments asked 3 independent education experts whether NAPLAN was still relevant for the students of today. Their final report has been handed down this afternoon. The experts said that while its important we still undertake standardised testing, NAPLAN needs to be modernised & replaced. They also said it puts an extra burden on teachers and is too high-stakes for students. Heres a snapshot of the recommendations: Test re-named Australian National Standardised Assessment' (ANSA) Bigger focus on critical thinking & science Changes to the writing assessment Tests held earlier in the year instead of May Results returned within one week of the test Moving the test from year 9 to year 10 Any changes to the current testing would need the support of all states, territories & the Federal Government.

We only started 2 lessons before the test and at the start of the 1st lesson she told me, that she is worried to fail the test. She took everything on board I told her, we prepared as much as possible for the topic, she got more confident, improved a lot and did very well in her test. We have now weekly lessons and I enjoy working with her and watch her thrive
