24.01.2022 AOMC has received the following clarification from VicRoads about the administration of Club Plate Scheme under COVID-19 requirements. This has already been sent to Member clubs. After some discussion today, it has been determined that: Whilst they remain open, VicRoads Customer Service Centres will continue to accept payment for club permit renewals.... If permit holders do not wish to attend a customer service centre, they can continue to renew permits though mailing the renewal to VicRoads, GPO Box 1644 Melbourne 3001 The renewal process is described on VicRoads’ website. Queries have also been received about applications for new permits. The process for applying for new permits has not changed, and is described on VicRoads’ website. New club permits can continue to be applied for at VicRoads’ Customer Service Centres. Please accept my apologies for any confusion caused. I request that you pass this updated information to your constituent clubs. John Lewis Principal Practice Advisor - Registration and Licensing VicRoads

16.01.2022 AOMC has received the following relating to planned Bendigo Swap Meet in November: The 2020 Bendigo Swap has been cancelled Following recent announcements from the Victorian State Government in relation to COVIT19 concerns, the Bendigo National Swap Meet Committee has decided to cancel the Bendigo Swap that was to be held on 14-15 November 2020.... Committee chairperson Neil Athorn said it is unfortunate that in our 45th year we have had to make the decision to cancel this event because of ongoing COVID-19 concerns. We are hopeful that we can return on 13-14 November 2021. This decision was made as there is a substantial amount of forward planning required by our Committee, site holders, local businesses that we use, and members of the historic vehicle movement. Our event is not one that we can cancel at short notice. We are mindful that this is an important event for the Community of Bendigo, Bendigo Show Grounds and the Historic Vehicle movement and we are disappointed that we cannot proceed in 2020. The Swap is managed by the Veteran Vintage Classic Club Bendigo and is owned by the Federation of Veteran Vintage and Classic Clubs. Mr Athorn said that the profits from the Swap are returned to the community with 7 historic vehicle display days across the State over the year, updates regarding the movement are provided throughout the year to our 120 Federation member clubs in Victoria and financial assistance to clubs from time to time. All historic vehicle club members working at the Swap are volunteers and take no personal payment from the event. It’s a great Swap that came to Bendigo 45 years ago and has built up from 200 sites to 1,750 sites and gained world recognition within the movement.

03.01.2022 UPDATE FROM AOMC - USE OF CLUB PERMIT VEHICLES The only reasons Victorians should be leaving their home are for: obtaining food and supplies, medical care and care giving, exercise, and work or education. While you can continue to use your club permit vehicle, its use must only be in connection with one of the above activities (as well as being in accordance with the usual rules for use of club permit vehicles). ... Victoria Police have powers to enforce social distancing laws and can issue fines of up to $1,652 for individuals who don’t comply.

01.01.2022 Message from AOMC President - COVID-19 and permit vehicles: The Association of Motoring Clubs has had many reports and requests for information concerning the use of permitted vehicles during the current Corona Virus emergency. As you would know the country is under emergency regulations regarding social distancing and private movements.... Everybody is being encouraged to Stay At Home. The Association supports efforts to safeguard the health of our citizens and seeks the support of the movement to do likewise. Vehicles either registered or permitted are only to be used for: The current Emergency Regulations restrict all vehicle movements to: Going to work or school if essential, Shopping for essentials, Visits to medical services. Any vehicle and occupants detected by the police, not involved in one of the above can be stopped and fined. As of close of business yesterday Vic Roads have no policy on the use of permitted vehicles during this time of emergency regulations, but are discussing the matter with Vic Police. It is our believe permitted vehicles are probably part of the police crackdown on caravans, motor homes and recreational four wheel drives. Permitted vehicles are being seen as recreational vehicles. So our advice is unless absolutely necessary for the reasons outlined above leave your club permitted vehicle at home. We will provide further advice when it comes to hand Iain Ross President
