23.01.2022 Mick Dohnt (purple shirt) has tagged more fish than anyone else with 24,670 to date. To get some sense of that, if Mick tagged one fish every day it would take ...him over 67 years to reach that total. Mick is one of those quiet achievers that doesn't look for recognition but recently the Australian National Sportfishing Association (ANSA) awarded Mick the Ron Dempster Award for his contribution to tagging. 22.01.2022 The longest distance a Flathead has moved is 425km from Turkey Beach south of Gladstone to the Pioneer River at Mackay. Rodney Whitaker was closest at 415km. The fish was tagged in Mar 2004 and recaptured in Feb 2005.

13.01.2022 For those of you that have never caught a tagged fish this is what a tag looks like. When caught the tag is usually covered in algae and looks like a black stic...k until the algae is scrapped away. This Barramundi was recaptured in the Hey River at Weipa a couple of days ago after being tagged 2 years ago in Oct 2011. See more
