16.01.2022 I am reminded of the saying you cant get where your going if you dont know where you are at. The BHP approach to Mental Health support highlights the need to build in data collection around mental health in the early stages and on an ongoing basis. Identifying key success metrics during the early stages has allowed BHP to monitor the success of the framework, and develop initiatives accordingly. 12.01.2022 Strength Based Parenting is an approach that seeks to actively identify and work with children's strengths both in character and talents. Research by Professor Lea Waters shows that SBP increases children's protective factors around mental health with reduced depression, anxiety, stress and improved resiliency. Her research also shows we are geared to 'negative bias' which means we are constantly focussed on what is wrong and needs improving. Perhaps adopting a strengths base...d approach in our own lives- deliberately recognising our strengths and enlisting them in areas of challenge we can increase our own protective factors and life satisfaction and model a healthy relationship to self for our children. For more on Strengths Based Parenting and useful resources for identifying strengths check out Lea's website or books on The Strength Switch: https://www.strengthswitch.com/
