You're going to in fact talk to a person PTE is 100% computer based You won’t talk to somebody, but through a microphone ? It depends. It’ll be more appropriate for some than others. The only PTE version accepted in Australia is the academic one, which can be a challenge for some people because we aren't talking about casual English, but academic context. For those immigrating to the country, IELTS offers an option named General Training. The content isn’t as formal as the other choice. The institution also provides the Academic version for people who are enrolling in a university or vocational courses within Australian territory. If in the past the main difference between tests was to do it on screen or paper, today it’s another scenario. In December 2017, IELTS started to deliver tests via computer in some of Australia capital cities. Although, the speaking session are still face-to-face with a real examiner. IELTS format is still the same, but it's on the computer now. PTE was designed to be a computer-based exam. One of the main contrasts is how the tests evaluate you and who is assessing you.
