23.01.2022 Been notified of a Data Breach? Here are some tips on how to handle it: 1. Act quickly after youve been notified of a data breach to reduce your chance of experiencing harm. 2. Change your passwords. Use strong passwords that you have not used for other accounts. ... 3. If available, use multi-factor authentication which will make it more difficult for someone to gain access to your online accounts 4. If your bank account has been affected you should also change your banking PIN number and monitor your bank transactions. If you spot any purchases you didnt make, immediately report these to your bank 5. Look out for scams. If your contact details were involved in a breach, a scam email might be personalised and address you by name. 6. Do not share your personal information until you are certain about who you are sharing it with. If someone calls you and claims to be from an agency or organisation, you can hang up and call the agency or organisation back using publicly available contact details (e.g. from their website or a phone book) 7. If you have questions that arent answered by a data breach notification, get in contact with the organisation that sent you the data breach notification.

18.01.2022 Did you know: Most Australians have never checked their credit report? How to improve your credit score: 1. Pay your credit card bills and loan repayments on time. This is the single most important thing you can do to improve your credit score. ... 2. Check your credit report so you know if there are any issues. 3. Dont borrow more than you can handle. If there are any errors in your credit report, you can get them fixed for free. If you think something is wrong, you can ask any credit provider or credit reporting body for help to fix that error so long as they hold credit information about you. Here are some tips to help you maintain a healthy credit report: 1. Know whats on your credit report. You have a right to a free copy of your credit report each year from each credit reporting body. 2. Keep track of your credit score. Your credit score is like a summary of whats on your credit report and can give you a quick indication of how credit providers see you. 3. Fill out credit applications fully. Much of whats on your credit report comes from you, when you fill out applications. If you dont fill out the applications properly it can make it harder for credit providers to get a proper credit report about you. 4. Dont let forgetfulness make you miss payments. Set up automatic payments i.e. direct debit to make sure your minimum payments are made on time. 5. Talk to your credit provider if you are struggling to make payments. Many lenders must work with you if you tell them that you are struggling with your repayments. 6. Keep your details up to date. If you change your address without informing a credit provider, you might not know that you owe them money and it could end up as a default on your credit report. 7. Be sensible with credit. Only borrow what you need and use credit wisely. If you have too much credit, it could make it harder for you to get credit for what you really need. 8. Fix errors for free on your credit report. If you think something is wrong, you can ask any credit provider or credit reporting body for help to fix that error so long as they hold credit information about you.

11.01.2022 Email & Social Media continues to be a popular medium for criminals hoping to target people with scams, phishing and malicious software (malware). It is important to know how to detect potentially suspicious messages Here are some tips to protect yourself on social media: ... 1. Familiarise yourself with the sites privacy and security settings make sure youre only sharing your information with the people you want to share it with. 2. Dont accept friend requests or invitations from people you dont know you could be making yourself and your friends more vulnerable to scammers. 3. Protect your social media accounts with strong passwords. 4. Don't use social networking sites that do not offer any privacy settings or that allow users to contact each other anonymously. 5. Think before you post. Once information is online is it very difficult to remove. If unsure, ask yourself would I be OK if this image or information was shared more broadly or seen by my employer? If not, perhaps think again. 6. Remember that people are not always who they say they are online. 7. Use caution when clicking on advertisements like online shopping on social media platforms. Just because a post appears in your feed and has been suggested for you doesnt mean the retailer is legitimate. 8. Be particularly careful with personal information that could compromise the security of you and others, for example a date of birth, an address, your daily routine, your childrens school or your holiday plans. This information can be used by criminals to steal your identity or plan criminal activity like robbing your home when you are away. 9. Be wary of dating and romance scams, which are more prevalent on social media platforms. Dating scams are where a criminal pretends to have a romantic interest in a victim in order to steal their money or personal information. 10. Read and understand the social network sites terms and conditions and privacy policy.
10.01.2022 Busy first day at InForum.

01.01.2022 Protect yourself by securing your device: 1. Set a password, Personal Identification Number (PIN), passcode, gesture or fingerprint that must be entered to unlock the device. Dont forget to put PINs on your SIM card, voicemail and also ensure the device is set to automatically lock. 2. Install reputable security software that includes antivirus and antitheft/loss protection your devices retailer or service provider can provide recommendations. Only install applications f...rom the official device application store and do not jailbreak your device. 3. Use your devices automatic update feature to install new application and operating system updates as soon as they are available. 4. Set the device to require a password before applications are installed. This will prevent unauthorised modifications to the device. Parental controls could also be used for this purpose. 5. Leave Bluetooth turned off or in undiscoverable mode (hidden) when you are not using it. 6. Ensure your device does not automatically connect to new networks without your confirmation. 7. Record the International Mobile Equipment Identifier (IMEI) of your handset. Your IMEI is a 15 or 17 digit number often printed on a label under the battery or found in the Settings under General information about your device. If your device is lost or stolen, report this number to your provider and they can stop the handset from being used. 8. Enable the remote locking and/or wiping functions, if your device supports them. Protect your information by: 1. Back up your data regularly, either with a backup application or by manually syncing the device with a computer. 2. Do not save passwords or PINs as contacts on your phone or tablet. 3. Enable device encryption to protect personal data stored on the device where possible. 4. Check the privacy permissions carefully when installing new apps on your device and only install apps from reputable vendors. Where you can, make apps or profiles private and password protected. Learn more about protecting yourself from mobile malware. 5. Ensure you thoroughly remove personal data from the device before selling or recycling it.
