24.01.2022 Great tips here. Have you checked yourself this month?
24.01.2022 Ladies, a couple of facts you may not know from Metagenics resources - Magnesium is a key nutrient that is frequently deficient in women suffering from hormonal imbalances. In conditions ranging from premenstrual syndrome (PMS) to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), menstrual migraine to symptomatic menopause, levels of magnesium may be 20 to 30% lower than in asymptomatic matched controls. Breast cancer risk increases by approximately 10%, in response to alcohol consumption of... only one to two drinks a day. Alcohol raises oestrogen levels, and interferes with the activity of catechol-O-methyl-transferase (COMT), an enzyme involved in oestrogen detoxification. So make sure you watch your alcohol intake and include lots of magnesium rich foods in your diet (beans, nuts & seeds, wholegrains, like brown rice, leafy greens, figs - nice fresh ones around at the moment, and dark chocolate) or ask me about a good practitioner brand supplement. Cramps, twitches and spasms are early signs of deficiency, but deficiency is linked to many other symptoms and conditions.
24.01.2022 Good news for coffee drinkers:) Try to drink organic if possible and limit sugar!
17.01.2022 Following on from my Lemon juice post, Apple Cider Vinegar is another great addition to include in your diet
15.01.2022 This looks a yummy alternative to white potatoes. Sweet potatoes also have heaps more fibre and nutrients that regular potatoes. Think I will try this one soon:)
15.01.2022 If you like chocolate, eat one with at least 70% cocoa for positive health benefits.
14.01.2022 A thought from Louise Hay that might be good advise at this busy time of the year... Think thoughts that make you happy. Do things that make you feel good. Be with people who make you feel good.... Eat things that make your body feel good. Go at a pace that makes you feel good. Have a lovely Christmas all
14.01.2022 Is this true for you? Hope not, and you are eating lots of greens and other healthy fresh foods that are grown and not out of packets.
13.01.2022 Being interested in breast health and early detection of abnormalities with regular thermography, I thought this article on iodine was great. Thanks Lara Briden.
12.01.2022 This is really cool. Thanks Bio Concepts Pty Ltd.
11.01.2022 I love herbal teas. Have you tried any of the ones below? One of my favourites is Peppermint tea. Another good combo for springtime hayfever is Fenugreek and Eyebright tea. Green tea is also great for gut health, antioxidant, anticancer to name just a few benefits. Camomile is good to help relax you before bed. Try a new herbal tea and enjoy your favourites:)
10.01.2022 I recently came across this link to calculate your risk for breast cancer. Scary how common it is now and according to my age I have a 1 in 36 chance of getting breast cancer! That's even more scary. Luckily I am considered low risk. Also thought I might eat more mushrooms, and turns out the common white mushroom is a good one. Check out the link and article below. http://canceraustralia.gov.au//breast-/your-risk/calculate
10.01.2022 How amazing is Vitamin D! And who doesn't enjoy some daily sunshine to lift your mood?
09.01.2022 Love avocados. Here are 20 reasons to eat them regularly from Food Matters. Have a go at making avocado chocolate mousse with really ripe ones for a sweet treat.
06.01.2022 Some Words for Wednesday from an American writer (Barbara Kingsolver) "It's better to be a hopeful person than a cynical, grumpy one, because you have to live in the same world either way, and if you're hopeful, you have more fun."
04.01.2022 More great words of wisdom...
04.01.2022 October is breast awareness month. Make it a habit to check yourself monthly.
04.01.2022 Guess what? Organic food is better for you! Something we naturopaths have known for sometime!
03.01.2022 Sounds like good advice to me:) I had a delicious cauliflower and chickpea curry the other night with turmeric, curry powder and ginger. All great anti inflammatory herbs.
02.01.2022 Interesting article. I like people to have vitamin D levels around 100+. Good Vitamin D levels are also important as a preventative measure for many health conditions. It acts more like a hormone and has receptors on cells throughout the body. Are your levels in a healthy range?
