24.01.2022 New NSW RSA Laws: For those in the hospitality industry, you would most likely be aware of the recent changes to RSA laws in response to the rising level of "alcohol fueled violence". New laws have been implemented which include a current suspension to online RSA training. Classroom delivery of the NSW RSA course is now the only option until the suspension is lifted. ... For the few participants who commenced the online course with Infront but did not complete before the deadline times advised, you will be allowed to complete the course in class with us at no additonal cost if you wish to do so. For a full overview of the new laws please click on the below link which provides a summary from the NSW government: http://www.nsw.gov.au///files/nswgov_policyinitiatives.pdf If you have any questions regarding these changes please feel free to contact our office on 02 8252 7565.

22.01.2022 Quick reminder from us here at Infront, As you probably all aware, OLGR started phasing out the older paper certificates for Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Responsible Conduct of Gaming (RCG) competencies with the introduction of the NSW photo competency card back in 2011. Under new laws, all old paper style certificates (example attached) issued prior to 22nd August 2011 will expire on 30th June this year. Keep in mind it is an offence for anyone to continue to w...ork with an out-dated RSA/RCG competency. To avoid the rush up to the end of June, now may be the right opportunity to make sure you and your staff is trained properly and able to continue working in your licensed venue after the 30th June 2016! Again - What happened? Old style RSA/RCG paper certificates received from 1 January 2010 to 21 August 2011 will expire on 30 June 2016. Any paper certificates issued before 1 January 2010 have already expired. Anyone wishing to continue working will need to complete a full RSA and/ or RCG training course by 30 June 2016!! What to do next? Check our website for available dates at www.infrontstaffing.com/training-services/rsa/ Call us on 02 8252 7565 if you would like to organise in-house training. Complete the training - participants will be awarded an OLGR interim certificate (issued upon completion allowing participants to work immediately and to apply for a competency card).

18.01.2022 National Unique Student Identifier system - introduction Jan 2015: From the 1st of January next year the federal government is mandating that Registered Training Organisations receive a Unique Student Identifier number (USI) from any student enrolling for a course. This means that as a student, your USI will maintain all course records for courses you have attended. Training Organisations will not be allowed to issue certificates without first obtaining a USI from each per...son attending the course. If you plan to do more courses, you can apply for your USI now to save time applying next time you apply for a course. Information regarding the USI system and how to apply can be found at the following link: http://www.usi.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx This will be implemented Australia wide so will assist with any course you enrol in (for Nationally Recognised Training Courses), around Australia. Infront will also be implementing a USI application field in our online booking system and space to upload your USI number once established.

17.01.2022 Happy new year to all from Infront. Just received the NSW OLGR enews for January which have provided a link below for anyone interested in seeing what they have to say..... http://enews.olgr.nsw.gov.au//zzzz56a179816c1e28/page.html

17.01.2022 RSA/RCG course participants - OLGR delay in printing competency cards: Below is an email received from the NSW OLGR for anyone who may have applied for their their RSA/RCG photo cards in the last week of Jan / first week of Feb: " Please be advised that any RSA & RCG students who attended the Post Office to complete their ID Check within the last week of January, 2014 and the first week of February, 2014 will experience a delay in receiving their Competency Cards. There was ...a batch error that has affected the production of approximately 2500 competency cards and these cards will now be printed early next week and mail outs are expected from Monday, 3 March, 2014. From the 2500 students affected, we have retrieved 1345 email addresses (which were initially obtained by you as the registered training organisation). We emailed those 1345 students earlier today and have asked any student whose interim certificates are no longer valid (and who are currently working in the Liquor & Gaming Industry) to contact us so that an interim solution is made available for them whilst they await the receipt of their competency cards. It should be noted that we do not have the resources to contact the other students by phone (and email is the easiest and quickest option). We have already received a number of email and phone enquiries and we are dealing with these, as and when they occur. You may receive phone calls from students and I would be pleased if you could refer them to the Competency Card Team on 02 9995-0900 if it impacts on their ability to work within the industry".

13.01.2022 ASBESTOS - recent information found in the "Health & Safety Bulletin": "Recently, there has been a significant amount of activity by the safety regulators in the area of asbestos. Particular focus has been in the ACT and NSW in relation to what is known as loose-fill asbestos insulation. Loose-fill asbestos was sold as ceiling insulation in the 1960s and 1970s for residential and commercial premises, mainly by one company trading in the ACT as Mr Fluffy. While most propert...ies that are affected are located in the ACT, there are also a number of properties in south-east NSW which have been identified as containing this type of insulation. It is quite possible that other jurisdictions have similar issues. The risk from friable or loose asbestos has been well documented, and in relation to the loose-fill asbestos the concern is that it is easy to disturb and fibres can become airborne and easily inhaled. This can cause significant health risks. Both WorkCover NSW and WorkSafe ACT are currently taking steps to investigate this particular type of insulation in their jurisdictions. Businesses or homes that are affected are being warned not to undertake any refurbishment work that requires alteration to any walls, ceilings or wall sockets, or removal of cornices until a further assessment under controlled conditions can be conducted. Licensed asbestos assessors or occupational hygienists can test the level of control in place at your premises to see whether removal or other controls need to be undertaken. In the ACT, the government recently announced laws that required all houses affected by loose-fill asbestos to fix high visibility tags in their meter boxes to alert tradespeople of the risks. Tags are to be affixed from September 2014 with penalties for breaches to apply from 1 January 2015. A similar recommendation is being made by WorkCover NSW. If your business is affected or potentially affected by asbestos then you should make yourself aware of the two codes of practice that apply in most jurisdictions: How to safely remove asbestos and How to manage and control asbestos in the workplace. These provide clear and practical guidance on your obligations if you operate in a jurisdiction governed by the WHS Act, and also offer practical steps for all businesses operating in Australia on how to deal with asbestos, including health monitoring, removal and disposal".
