23.01.2022 This is Count Down week. Election Day is Saturday 24 October, with postal ballot vote papers received until 12 noon Friday 30 October. 1.On Council I will vote to spend rate and grant money on NEEDS not wants. *This means: defer spending on Warragul's Civic Place. It also means our next Council needs to audit performance criteria of our shire's various departments and value for money for rate payers. THIS INCLUDES ROAD MATTERS. 2.RATING matters are of great concern among our... residents, and Victoria wide. We need a rate debate AND involve other local government bodies. 3.LAND USE PLANNING and limiting the expansion of our towns on to valuable farmland needs close attention. The Rural Land Use Review is one vehicle through which community can add concerns and constructive opinion. Business as usual is no longer acceptable. 4.TOURISM infrastructure and promotion need far more attention. Our beautiful countryside badly needs bike/walking/horse riding paths that cover the shire, WiFi hotspots, historic signage, improved maintenance of historic sites and more. We also need far more promotion of our tourist features. This should be organised by staff already funded by ratepayers in our economic development department. 5.Our community needs to reap the economic household benefits from the shire's ability to assist with building upgrades .Environmental Upgrade Agreements, to make homes/offices cheaper and more comfortable to run should be promoted and facilitated by Council. Among many benefits available to ratepayers. 6.Transparency is what is demanded by members of the public and the next Council should respect the public's right to know how and why decisions are made. 15.01.2022 Here we are, three women candidates meeting with Frank Powell in Thorpdale. Frank is very concerned about farmers right to farm. People who move to beautiful rural spaces for rest and relaxation have difficulty with farmers who need work their farms at all hours of the day at certain times of the year. Earning a living from farming is difficult enough. I wonder if residents in Melbourne's CBD can ask garbage or delivery trucks to stop working at night, because their noises stop residents from sleeping. Thorpdale's farmers are diversifying into apples, hazelnuts, truffles. That's a positive. They do need the right to farm as they have to to earn a living, not to mention feed the nation and further afield. Authorised by Inge Mitchell 464 Earls Road Yarragon South Vic, 3823
