20.01.2022 It is with mixed emotions and feelings;sadness, pride, relief,accomplishment and regret that I am closing my holiday rental business, at least for the foreseeab...le future. An opportunity has arisen for my husband and I for a temporary posting in Derby. I would like to share with my friends my humble beginnings and how I am now ready for a breakaway. When we first arrived at Preston beach, I was supposed to be retired (teacher), but I soon found myself pursuing a whole new venture of starting and managing a business. We started with a few properties, with owners who were willing to support me in the management learning process. Through hard work, trial and error I had developed a sound knowledge of the holiday rental industry. I had 8 properties under my complete management, but reduced these to 3 after some health complications. I have managed these properties for 4 years. Through this time I have quietly gone about my work, and it is hard work, but very rewarding when the outcomes have resulted in very happy guests and owners. I have never blown my own trumpet so to speak, but PBHAM has been extremely successful measured by the consistent and regular occupancy of all properties, holidays, long weekends but more importantly during midweek, off season times. The large number of return , regular guests has also been a success indicator - people love coming to Preston Beach, couples, families and pets. During the fires, all the properties were fully booked, and it was during this time that I realised the full responsibility that I had as a manager to tend to the needs of guests, many of whom were as worried and frightened as I was. But I had a responsibility to assist with evacuations, alerts, medical issues, refunds, etc. I have always taken my role as manager very seriously, with integrity, loyalty to all owners and cared for properties as if they were my own, as I would expect guests to. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the owners who have entrusted me to the task, supported and assisted, and allowed your property to be used for the enjoyment and pleasure of the many guests who have stayed. Oceanview Holiday haven has been one property that I have dedicated much love and energy into as it developed into the most popular and best occupied holiday home in Preston beach. The 2 units, originally ,The Villa, which was my first property, has always had contented, happy return guests. Then came The Lodge, which was a pleasure to prepare and maintain with many very happy guests and their pets. Thank you, owners ,guests and others who supported me in this journey, even the difficult/challenging situations only helped to teach me different ways to approach things. You never know we might do all this again. Preston Beach is still my beautiful home and it has been a privilege to share this beautiful place with others. See more
