25.01.2022 Australian people and companies affected by the coronavirus are pivoting in ingenious ways to keep their people working. We want to share their stories. Coming this Thursday;

24.01.2022 The BIG Pivot Ep#10: Fourth Wall This is one of the most inspiring interviews to date. When Ingenious Oz Project interviewed Jeremy Garling Fourth Wall it became clear very quickly that mindset is everything. What's also apparent is how Fourth Wall have stuck to their ethos and values and COVID has presented, not so much a challenge, but an opportunity of finding new ways of doing things and what they are capable of achieving. An example being their new offering 'EVENT CAST' which keeps going from strength to strength. Ingenious.

23.01.2022 Although the recent fires did not burn the entire country (as some amps indicated) they did and will affect tourism and business in all regional areas. Great to see this initiative to get (in the words of Simon Birmingham) 'the message out there that we are open for business'. Like to add we also love the sentiment of Corlie Bell (Chair of Australia Regional Tourism who appeared on ABC News Breakfast this morning) that it will also take all of us heading into regional areas and supporting regional businesses.

22.01.2022 The BIG Pivot Ep#11: Scene Change What really is a 'pivot'? Bradley Foster and I spoke with Ian Whitworth of Scene Change who recently pivoted from being one of Australia's most successful AV companies to now providing virtual event studios around the country. A no-nonsense, No BS interview where we also discuss the truth about marketing, human connection and the future of futurists. #businessevents #meetingsandevents #virtualevents #presentingtocamera #howtopresentotcamera micenet Meetings & Events Australia

20.01.2022 Art that Pops! How ingenious is this. Andi Mether and her team from Zest Events International have created D.I.Y 3D art. And it's free!!!! https://youtu.be/FyyTrSlv2Xg https://zestevents.com.au/free-3d-trick-art-to-colour-in-a/

20.01.2022 The BIG Pivot Ep#9 - Killara Foundation It is often said people don't listen enough yet it is when you truly listen you see gaps and opportunities. We spoke to Killara Foundation who help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into sustainable employment by providing "a safe place to live and teaching them the life and work skills". Being in their early stages of infancy we were keen to learn how COVID-19 has affected them and the people they help, and also the impact... Black Lives Matter has made. An ingenious and unique initiative, and a genuine and real conversation with some of the team. https://youtu.be/mp1IJ-t2VWc #socialenterprise Bradley Foster

19.01.2022 With over 27000 meals delivered to those in need the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre started an initiative for the good of the community and thier staff which is providing meals for those in need and also tech services to local schools. It's a very cool Pivot during the Covid crisis. Brad and I spke to Ben Morris and Garry Kindred. Ingenious and Brilliant. 14.01.2022 The BIG Pivot Ep#8 - Back to the Future of Events Podcast Paul Boustani took a chance and adapted well before COVID hit. He now runs the "Back to the Future of Events Podcast" and is a major player in helping those in the events industry stay sane, de-stress and maintain a good and healthy state of mind. A pivot (no we don't like the word either) with a difference because sometimes to go forward you have to retreat. 14.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT: The Big Pivot - Ingenious Australians working through COVID-19, coming soon Making hand-sanitizer in beer barrels, providing film production trucks for supermarket transport logistics, sending "care packages" to those working at home in isolation, Australian people and companies affected by the coronavirus are pivoting in ingenious ways to keep their people working.... Over the coming 10 weeks the Ingenious Oz Project's Nigel Collin and Bradley Foster will be interviewing a range of clever Australians working within tourism and events showcasing how they've pivoted to keep on keeping on. The interviews will cover a range of stories about Aussie entrepreneurs and business leaders focusing on their innovation, how they've overcome adversity to thrive in this new world. As Nigel put it: "By sharing stories of people like us who are out there doing it and not just talking about it, hopefully we can help others get through this thing. "These short, sharp videos will demonstrate that Australians really are innovative and forward-thinking and will not only be an inspiration to other Aussies but people in other parts of the world. We think this will be particularly important for Australia in attracting both tourists and conventions to Australia when the COVID-19 threat is over." Brad and Nige

11.01.2022 Working within the Tourism and events sector Tom and Annabel Curtain found their business radically affected by COVID-19. However, by listening to their market, getting inquisitive, they found a way to tweak and pivot their business drawing on their core capabilities. In many ways, COVID provided an opportunity to try new things and act on ideas already in the background for them. 11.01.2022 Meet Blair Beattie, a regenerative farmer and co-founder of Harvest Newrybar who when COVID hit saw a gap, had a brilliant idea for the benefit of his business, local producer and his community. A cafe owner he wantded to find ways to help local producers sell their produce and local people have access to fresh, sustainable produce. The solution was Vegie Boxes and now that things are slowly opening back up, the idea is one that has sustainable legs (in every sense of the word). 10.01.2022 This is a great story. There is a very clever restaurant in Darwin which has managed to find a new distribution model and market for its product. When Covid forced the doors to close at Wharf One Food & Wine, business partners Darren Lynch and Pina Sommerville sat down and spoke about what could they do. The result is a new business model based on there core offering and existing model. Ingenious. 09.01.2022 The Big Recovery - Episode #7 Social Distancing Chocolate When COVID hit, Tom Foristal of Melba's Chocolates had an ingenious idea to produce a 1.5m social distancing chocolate. Although we started talking about this we ended up talking small business gold. Tom is super smart because he doesn't just know his business he understands business. Love his comment on 'being a small business with constraints forces you to be agile', his take on car parks (about 20mins in) which is s...ome of the best business advice ever and well as his advice, which we often hear, of just having a crack https://youtu.be/VmmrJWotAdY Bradley Foster micenet NT Department of Trade, Business and Innovation Australian Retailers Association Visit Adelaide Hills Tourism Australia Australian Regional Tourism Inside Small Business #innovation #recovery #COVIDREBOUND #smallbusiness

06.01.2022 Although us Aussies are a tough bunch, the recent bushfires have, and are, affecting many people and communities in countless ways. Bradley Foster's and my thoughts are with all those who have suffered losses. But thoughts don't do a great deal without some action, so here's a list of places you can reach out to and contribute if you can. (CLICK 'SEE MORE') We thought it best to go direct. Alternatively, check-in with a mate or someone you know. (The top 2 pics are just up th...e road from my place on the Mid North Coast of NSW in November). 05.01.2022 The BIG Pivot - Husk Distillers and social responsiblity action in pivoting.

03.01.2022 Massive thanks to all those who have contributed over the past 7 years. The first road trip back in 2013 leading to 'Ingenious Oz Project' sharing the stories and collective genius of clever and ingenious Australian leaders and businesses. Stay tuned for more as Brad Foster and I talk with more smart and innovative Aussies.

03.01.2022 With Australia Day close, Bradley Foster and I thought we'd revisit some of our favourite stories of ingenious Australians making a difference. First up is the team at The Purple House. A brilliantly innovative social enterprise providing health services (kidney dialysis treatment) into remote and regional Australia. Not only are they making a difference to the health of those in need but also enabling Indigenous people and their families to stay on country. Hugely important culturally. 01.01.2022 One of the first pivots when COVID hit was distillers making hand sanitiser. However, now restirctions are lifting what happens next? Do they keep making hand sanitiser or go back to regular business? What impact did the pivot have on their bottom line and more importantly on communities and social good? Does philanthropy and business make good sense?
