22.01.2022 Hinchinbrook Shire Council update Bruce Highway Update Overnight Facility Available Department of Transport and Main Roads have advised that the Bruce Highw...ay will potentially be closed North of Ingham at Gairloch Washaway within the next few hours. To assist any motorists or residents that may not be able to travel home safely, Council will open the Ingham Showgrounds Pavilion located on Cooper Street at 6.00pm tonight. The facility will be manned by Council staff and includes shower and toilet amenities however bedding is not available. Anyone visiting the facility will be required to sign in due to COVID tracing requirements and follow all COVID distancing, hygiene and cleaning guidelines. Please contact the Hinchinbrook Local Disaster Call Centre on 4776 4600 for non-urgent assistance and if you are unable to check weather updates and road conditions online. Motorists are reminded that there is water over many roads throughout the district and extensive care should be exercised when driving. 04.01.2022 Update: Bruce Highway reopens Traffic is now moving on the Bruce Highway after an accident 30 km south of Ingham closed the road earlier today. Earlier: An accident at Insulator Creek has closed the Bruce Highway between Ingham and Townsville.... There is currently no traffic moving north or south. A forensic investigation is underway. A number of vehicles have become bogged after attempting to by-pass the accident on wet farmland.

02.01.2022 Homicide investigation: Image released of suspect Detectives have released the image of a 24-year-old Ingham man they would like to speak with as part of the investigation into the death of a man on Sunday. Caleb Rutherford (pictured) has not made contact with police and investigators wish to speak with him in relation to the death of a 20-year-old man in Ingham at 11.30pm on Sunday night.... Anyone who knows Caleb’s whereabouts or has seen him since around 11.30pm on Sunday is urged not to approach him but to immediately contact police on 000.
