This research will focus on the use of 5G technology to perform treatments for stroke patients living in remote communities, significantly improving health outcomes for those who may miss the early signs of stroke. 16.01.2022 We are excited to announce our new research stream - Ingham Institute centre for Robotics and Health Technology. We are pioneering remote robotic technologies through 5G to help detect and treat life-threatening conditions, no matter where you live. An Australian-first, the Institute is assessing a blood clot retrieval robot, that utilises 5G technology to perform remote endovascular treatment for stroke patients from its Liverpool base to anywhere in Australia and beyond, more quickly and effectively than current procedures. #InghamInstitute #InspiringHealthTransformingCare

15.01.2022 2020 POSTER COMPETITION WINNER: Hannah Galeb, Cerdon College Check out this amazing poster from Hannah, a year 9 student from Cerdon College, who is one of our 2020 poster competition winners! Her poster titled ‘Projectile Motion’, was judged by Dr Antonio Mendoza Diaz from South West Sydney BestSTART.... This was a great poster! I love some of the creative solutions like the QR code, but ultimately it was the high quality of the science that made my score go BOOM! Our one-day event includes: A panel discussion featuring representatives from different areas of health and medical research. A career pathways exhibition walk-through with tertiary institutions.... 14.01.2022 Meet our YEAH program facilitator, the Ingham Institute's Youth Engagement Coordinator, Grace Micali! Grace recently completed her PhD in Microbiology at the Institute in 2020 with the ARMEG research group. Towards the end of her candidature, Grace began networking with local high schools and recruiting students interested in science to complete the work experience program she coordinates. Grace has great experience in teaching biology as she also supervises and demonstrates... laboratory practical sessions for first year Western Sydney University students. In her role at the Ingham Institute, Grace organises the panels, exhibitors and volunteers for our Making the Connection events for local schools, as well as mentors students entering the Science Poster Competition. #InghamInstitute #InspiringHealthTransformingCare #STEMSuperstars



13.01.2022 The Annual Ingham Institute Science Poster Competition encourages students in years 9 to 12 in south west Sydney to submit a poster on a scientific investigation or experiment of their own choosing. Posters are judged by a panel of researchers ranging from medical students to clinical and academic professionals, and all poster entries are displayed at the annual Health Beyond Research & Innovation Showcase with SWSLHD! 13.01.2022 The Ingham Institute’s High School Work Experience Program is designed for students in Years 10, 11 and 12 that have displayed a genuine interest and passion for health and medical research. This three-day program is conducted by our dedicated Youth Engagement Coordinator, and allows students to get hands-on experience in a working medical research laboratory and learn the introductory skills of a scientist. The program includes:... A full tour of the Institute, including visiting our multiple research groups. Basic induction into the wet laboratory before learning skills needed to complete their experiments. Extracting DNA from bacterial cells for DNA analysis and protein extraction from animal tissues.
