24.01.2022 Originally known as Armistice Day, Remembrance Day commemorates the signing of the peace agreement that ended WWI at 11am on 11 November 1918. It is a time for... all to remember and honour the memory of all those the men and women who served, are currently serving and those we have lost to the cause. Lest We Forget. Geoff Lee - MP, Seat of Parramatta Sarah Mitchell MLC

17.01.2022 Ingleburn RSL Club Celebrates and Thanks our 40 and 50 Year Members!!! Not quite the exact lyrics or dates but here we go, it was forty years ago today, that’...s enough of that for now!!! In this, our 40th Year at Chester Road, we could not go without celebrating with some of our 40 and 50 year club members. Ingleburn RSL Club did just that and acknowledged today our long serving club members with a fun spirited luncheon featuring a superb meal by our caterers, entertainment and many memories spanning back decades. Ninety seven 40 and 50 years members, their guests, our Board of Directors, our Sub Branch Trustees and Sub Branch Executive , our Women’s Auxiliary and our wonderful team of Ingleburn RSL Staff made this a day to remember. A quick calculation of the 40 and 50 year members tells us that is some 4000 years of proud Ingleburn RSL Club membership. Joining us today were the Federal Member for Werriwa Laurie Ferguson MP, Councillor Bob Thompson, club President Ray Williams, CEO Glenn Cushion, Vice President and former Secretary Manager Terry Goldsworthy, Vice President Warren Verity, Club Treasurer Vince Vincent and Directors Geoff Grimes and Ray O’Neill. A special thanks to staff members Cesar Andaur, Dimity Chidgey, Deanne Solomons, Maree Smidt, Natalie Samuels, Samantha Chalmers, Bikram Sharma, Kylee Blenkinsop, Mitch Vine, Diana Lee, Alan Robinson and Lindell Trenear, all for their sterling efforts and attendance today. On a lighter note, the club presented to the members and guests a framed $1 note that was the first note handed over the bar in the new club building here at Chester Road during a soft opening on the 19th March 1975. This is one where you can say They have the first $1 they earned, we do!!!! Special thanks goes to all of the 40 and 50 year members who attended today, our compere and entertainer Geoff Jones and our PA to the CEO Tanita Coulter who organised and put together this wonderful event. We hope you enjoy the photos. See more

06.01.2022 ARMY DAYS I don’t know why I joined the Army It just wasn’t me! I liked to do my own thing... And I liked that I was free. Now they told me when to sleep. Wouldn’t let me go on leave Told me when to get my hair cut Made me shave would you believe? Polished everything that wasn’t moving. Saluted everything that moved. Even stayed in bed one morning. Can’t say that they approved. Hated guns and noise on range day. Couldn’t hit a target then. Nasty Corporals always yelling. Made me miss eight out of ten. Wasn’t meant to be a soldier. Discipline was not for me. Didn’t mind time in the bush though. That’s why I joined the Infantry. In the bush there’s no spit polish. Didn’t have to shave sometimes. No parades for mess or duties This all suited me just fine. Parade grounds were a pain to me. Marching up and marching down. Stay in step or you’ll be punished. Keep your eyes up off the ground. Listen to the CSM now Cursing this and cursing that Soon he’ll have us all on charges I’ll be sure to toe the mat. It seems we’re going overseas now To some place that’s really strange. Sort the men out from the boys eh? That will bring a welcome change. Now in combat all’s forgiven. Even welcomed what I knew All that training and those orders Meant I know now what to do. Through the jungles we patrolled Conscious of our expertise Fearing no-one, fearing nothing We would go just where we pleased. I have always admired professional soldiers. There were many around the base. Discipline, dress and conduct too Were just a few trials they had to face. Can’t say I didn’t enjoy the mateship I’m in touch with many still today. Fifty years back in civvy street And I still remember my Army days! Bill Charlton c 2015
