24.01.2022 Thanks to the team at Ingleside Encironment Centre for taking us on a very wet water exploration adventure this morning! The cubs discovered the many living creatures in the Wirreanda Creek near the Ingleside Scout Camp. The water bugs were sorted into ice cube trays, counted and recorded by our team to assist with environmental monitoring. A great learning experience and fun for everyone that braved the weather!

07.01.2022 Tell us what is happening in your garden this Autumn! The start of another season means its time for another Birds in Backyards seasonal survey period! This Mar...ch and April do a 20 min bird count alongside a bit of info about your garden and give us valuable insight into our urban birds. Our Birds in Backyards team has lots of information to help you out if you are just starting out! You can even join us for a free webinar on Wednesday the 10th of March at 7pm (AEDT). Register via the Autumn survey link here: https://www.birdsinbackyards.net//artic/Autumn-survey-time Don't know the names of all the birds? Don't worry - the Birdata platform includes a list of birds (with pictures) that you are likely to see in your area Only got super common or 'boring' birds - that's what we need to know! Boring is helpful too! We use the data you submit in a number of ways - from research projects, to education materials and this year data will even be used in the very first Urban Bird Index in Australia. A simple survey is so incredibly valuable. Head over to the Birds in Backyards team page on Instagram: @birdsinbackyards or join the Birds in Backyards (Australia) Facebook group for more great content! #BirdsinBackyards #BirdLifeOz #UrbanBirds #Survey #AussieBird #BirdLifePhotography #CitSciOz #WildOz #BirdPhotography #Garden #Autumn

02.01.2022 Hi rick Well, week 1 of Plastic Free July is done and dusted - how did you go? Please remember that even if you didn’t manage to avoid all plastic (and honestly, we really didn't expect you to - it's called a 'challenge' for a reason!), you didn’t ‘fail’. 02.01.2022 Congratulations Sandra Walker and Cameron Lathwell

01.01.2022 Just a careful thought for the #Easter holidays. Before considering the harmful invasive iconic bunny, acknowledge our native Australian equivalent, the #Bilby.... A few facts about the Bilby: they are marsupials the size of a rabbit, they are nocturnal and they are the totem of the Kunja Tribe (Warrego River People) in the far-western corner of NSW. Sadly, the Bilby is endangered and there is a 25km fence to protect them from feral animals at Currawinya. Thanks B. Shillingsworth for reminding us of the interconnected relationship #Aboriginal people have, not only with the land, but with Australian fauna.
