20.01.2022 Loneliness It is not too late to have your say! In November, a survey exploring the prevalence of loneliness in rural communities was distributed to adults living in the 3517-postcode area via the postal service. Thank you to everyone who shared their views by completing and returning the survey. We realise this time of year can be particularly challenging and loneliness affects many people regardless of age and life circumstances. It is hoped this research will create bett...er understanding of this topic and might contribute to improved future outcomes of wellbeing for rural town populations. If you have misplaced the survey or did not receive the survey, and would like to be part of this study, please access online at https://is.gd/Inglewood_Community_Survey or call the number below to request a hard-copy version. You need to be 18 years of age or older, live in the 3517-postcode area, and be able to read/respond in English. It should take no more than 10 minutes of your time to complete the survey. For further information, please contact Kathy on 03 5444 7731. (Kathy Jordan is a graduate researcher from the Violet Vines Marshman Centre for Rural Health Research at La Trobe University). 07.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE TITLE: Fire Danger Period announced for Loddon Shire FURTHER INFORMATION: (03) 5494 1200 Fire Danger Period announced for Loddon Shire... The Country Fire Authority (CFA) has announced the 2020/21 Fire Danger Period (FDP) will begin in Loddon Shire at 1.00am on Monday 23 November 2020. It will run through the warmer months, ending on 1 May 2021. CFA declares the FDP for each shire at different times in the lead up to the fire season. It depends on the amount of rain, grassland curing rate and other local conditions. Once the FDP comes into effect, CFA has a zero-tolerance approach to any fires caused by negligent behaviour. CFA can issue permits for certain circumstances during the FDP. There are very strict conditions attached to these permits and the liability sits with the permit holder to ensure they always act safely. During the FDP fires cannot be lit in the open air without a written permit from CFA or a Municipal Fire Prevention Officer. FDPs are based on local conditions and take into account fuel moisture, fuel loads, grassland curing, weather and rainfall. Fire Danger Period information and restrictions are published at cfa.vic.gov.au/w/restrictions-during-the-fire-danger-period. Please note the latest restrictions will be published on this page by the Tuesday before they come into force. Victorians can find out Can I or Can’t I? information at cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrictions/can or by calling VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226. All burn-offs should be registered with the VicFire Burn-off notification line on 1800 668 511.

05.01.2022 Loneliness Have your say! Kathy Jordan is a doctoral student from the Violet Vines Marshman Centre for Rural Health Research (VVMCRHR) at La Trobe University. Her PhD is exploring the prevalence of loneliness in rural communities and is supervised by Professor Amanda Kenny (Chief Investigator), Dr. Virginia Dickson-Swift, and Dr. Carina Chan. We are inviting adults living in the 3517-postcode area to complete a survey. The purpose of this survey is to explore if loneliness ...exists in your community and if it is a problem in your community. Although information about what loneliness is and how people come to be lonely is widespread, far less is known about loneliness in rural towns. We know loneliness affects many people regardless of age and life circumstances, and we believe people living in your community will know best if loneliness is being experienced or is a problem. We want to gain a wide range of opinions in relation to loneliness and it is hoped that better understanding of this topic might lead to improved outcomes of wellbeing for rural town populations. The survey has recently been distributed to residential homes in the area via the postal service. If you have misplaced the survey or did not receive the survey, and would like to be part of this study, please use the link https://is.gd/Inglewood_Community_Survey to access it online or call the number below to request a hard-copy version. You need to be 18 years of age or older, live in the 3517-postcode area, and be able to read/respond in English. It should take no more than 10 minutes of your time to complete the survey. For further information, please contact Kathy on 03 5444 7731. VVMCRHR Website: https://www.latrobe.edu.au/research/centres//violetmarshman Ethics reference number: HEC20416
