21.01.2022 A world class collection of the finest yearlings has been unveiled, with the pedigrees of 580 royally-bred and conformed athletes catalogued for the 2016 Inglis... Australian Easter Yearling Sale on 5, 6 and 7 April. Years of meticulous planning and hard work by breeders and vendors will culminate in what promises to be an amazing week in Sydney this April. We are excited to offer 580 elite thoroughbreds from the best families across the globe, and to again play host to our clients from around Australia and all parts of the world, said Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster. Appealing to the passions of all thoroughbred enthusiasts, the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in April is neatly positioned during the week of The Championships at Royal Randwick, where prizemoney totalling $20 million will be offered over the two exceptional days of racing, including 8 Group 1 races. Twelve months on from Criterions victory in the $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes his half-brother will be offered at the Easter Sale, along with the siblings to Able Friend, Winx, Lankan Rupee, Dissident, Fawkner, Press Statement, Sacred Star and Luger all ranked among the 2015 Worlds Best Racehorses. Amalgamating the strength of the catalogue are the progeny of 173 stakes winning mares which won 47 Group 1 races among them. 142 Easter yearlings to be offered are already siblings to stakes winners, including 43 Group 1 winners. 56 individual sires are represented in the catalogue led by Fastnet Rock (52 lots), Sebring (43), Snitzel (30), Street Cry (28) and Redoutes Choice (24), plus freshmen Pierro (41) and All Too Hard (37). Boosting the international flavour are five yearlings by Europes undefeated champion Frankel and one by Shamardal, the proven sire of World Champion Sprinter and Inglis Easter graduate Able Friend. Strawberry Hill Stud, Three Bridges Thoroughbreds and Cressfield will offer progeny by Frankel, while Widden Stud will consign one each by Frankel and Shamardal. Champion Inglis Easter graduates Fastnet Rock and Exceed And Excel have already proven to be outstanding progenitors and 2016 will see the first crop of World Champion Three-Year-Old Miler and Inglis Easter sale-topper All Too Hard offered for sale. Foxwedge followed in his sires footsteps and graced the ring at Newmarket, and 17 yearlings from his second crop are to be sold in 2016 with similar hopes for greatness, while Coolmore Stud will offer his sister among their 41 strong draft. Bred by Dr Ian and Linda Duckwo...rth, Mossfun (Mossman x Eye For Fun) was sold to the bid of Trevor Lobb on behalf of Emirates Park for $85,000 when the filly was offered as Lot 556 from the draft of Fairview Park Stud in Session II at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. Mossfun was an outstanding two year-old winning four of her five starts for Team Hawkes highlighted by a brilliant ATC Golden Slipper victory (pictured). "For an $85,000 yearling she will now to go to stud as a valuable broodmare, a Group 1 winner, and a Golden Slipper winner," said co-trainer Michael Hawkes. Construction of the new $140m precinct, adjacent to the Warwick Farm racecourse, is set to be completed in December. As a result, this years Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale (April 10-12), which has been moved back to its former timeslot to follow on from the Australian Easter Yearling Sale, will be the final sale held at Newmarket. The first sale at the new complex will be the Classic Yearling Sale, in early February 2018.
