25.01.2022 J O Y On the 23rd March, when my life retrospectively imploded in a single day, I lost a number of things (or so I thought) and like many businesses, everything for me became incredibly uncertain. What got me up, got me out of the house and gave me more certainty and purpose were my clients, friends and the community that is Kiama. They offered their time, their homes, their coffee, their paddle boards, their conversation, their ears and their time. They gave me certainty whe...n my reservoir was empty. For this I must certainly be the luckiest lady on the planet to have people to hold space and love for me when I was so unsure. Four years ago when I was in the throes of a new building fitout and was envisioning exactly what Inhale had the potential to become, what really resonated was the saying build it and they will come. I envisioned Inhale as a movement sanctuary and a place for connection. I wanted Inhale to go beyond a biomechanical, movement and anatomical transformation for people, but rather offer a space to connect - to self, and to community. Nothing could be more factual in what she has evolved into. I know many clients have formed such close friendship circles within the walls of Inhale that they may otherwise not have had the opportunity or the space to meet. I have seen Inhale hold space for people at times in their life when they need that the most. I am so proud of what a 52 square metre space can create in the lives of those who visit and I am so privileged to be a part of that process. If there is anything I am supremely proud of in my 32 years, it’s what Inhale has matured into. I believe, that we are just getting started. I have seen exactly that just today, clients returning borrowed equipment, chatting with each other and discussing their excitement for the studio reopening this week. One of my beautiful clients even brought me a lunch pack for my busy week ahead! I have received endless emails, texts and calls from people saying how much they miss the studio and being a part of the community there, how they can’t wait for her to reopen. And on the eve of her reopening, in her near four years since launch, I have NEVER seen the booking system for Inhale so full - 85%! This is a huge representation of the importance of Inhale in people’s lives and without doubt, the value of the community within mine. During these last 3 months Inhale has matured and grown stronger, as have I, and I am certain that she has a long life ahead of her. I am so excited for what is to come for Inhale, and for me personally. Let’s get this party started, I can’t wait to see you all this week and thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything, your love, respect, kindness and community. Everything I envisioned. With love, ALWAYS, Lauren x

24.01.2022 E L E M E N T Find your element. Whatever it is. Notice what lights you up. Notice the practices that bring you joy. Notice when you smile and your heart feels full. Notice these moments. Follow that. For me - My passion is my purpose. It’s a practice I have refined and nurtured and worked really bloody hard at. I genuinely love what I do. But I love the practice itself as a student also. There is always more to explore. More to be present with, less judgemental of myself ab...out, and more corners to enquire about. Seek those that fan your flames. Also, find what lights you up. Chase that, and you’ll find your joy. @hayneshayley #pilates #pilatesaustralia #health #wellbeing #wellness #fitness #mindfulness #mentalwellness #physicalwellness #breath #strength #flexibility #kiamansw #isolation #stayhome #pilatesreformer #stretch

24.01.2022 F E E D B A C K The Pilates equipment is designed to offer neuromuscular feedback in a way that is beneficial for enhancing greater somatic awareness and learning. Joseph Pilates truly was a man 100 years ahead of his time. What genius to design such pieces of engineering appropriate to bodies not only 100 years on but even more so than when the equipment was innovated in the first place.... Doing Pilates is not just about doing the exercise. It’s about being somatically in the exercises and being with the journey of execution. Listening to the cues from your teacher, feeling the communication lines in your body, and marrying the flow of breath in with movement like meditation. I repeat this over and over again for good reason - Pilates is not just about throwing your limbs around and getting to the destination of the choreography. It’s fine tuning your alignment dynamically through movement and forming union with your body. And that is bloody hard work! Presence is required. Listening is needed. Being content with the process of that learning. Some days it’s not always pretty but it’s about the process. Synonymous with life really. The polarity. Putting the work in the body takes time and the evolution of that process is something to marvel at. @hayneshayley #pilates #pilatesaustralia #health #wellbeing #wellness #fitness #mindfulness #mentalwellness #physicalwellness #breath #strength #flexibility #kiamansw #isolation #stayhome #pilatesreformer #stretch #apmamember #pilatescadillac #feetinstraps #springs

09.01.2022 C H A N G E Change happens through movement and movement heals. I have seen it in my clients, I have experienced in my own body and I truly believe there is no greater method of change than being IN ones own body fully aware and conscious in a movement environment such as that of a Pilates studio. The history behind Joe’s creation of his method is, in part, unknown. But what is heavily proposed is that it developed from a need to offer mindfulness, ill say that again, MIND-FU...LL-NESS. To be present to all senses. To remain steady in ones mind as if steadiness in ones body married into ones mind. To be so elegantly internally focused that all else external fades away. I am still in awe at how a method created by one man can erupt into a worldwide evolution of millions. Joe would be so proud. There is something in the method that one can’t describe that keeps us all coming back. Is it the constant process of evolution both physically and mentally towards mastery? Is it the depth of presence one feels with themselves during such context? Is it the art involved with movement? The never ending challenge and striving towards movement mastery? I feel Joe himself describes it best - Contrology is the complete coordination of body, mind and spirit. Personally, I come home to myself through the Pilates method. Ah, the unity! @hayneshayley #pilates #pilatesaustralia #health #wellbeing #wellness #fitness #mindfulness #mentalwellness #physicalwellness #breath #strength #flexibility #kiamansw #isolation #stayhome #pilatesreformer #stretch #contrology #classicalpilates #apmamember

08.01.2022 YOU Let the beauty of what you love be what you do - Rumi I. Love. What. I. Do.... I live it. I breathe it. I emulate it. I teach approximately 50 hours of face to face group and private’s, equating to roughly 100 clients every week. To be the best possible teacher I can be I ensure I maintain my own practice. Currently it’s not much due to my heavy workload. BUT it’s consistent. Every week on a Sunday I have a beautiful 90 minute mentoring session that sets my energy for the week ahead and puts THE WORK into my body. I practice what I preach and believe so heartily in the work I offer to the world through the Pilates method. 07.01.2022 D E T A I L S It’s all in the small details. The way you generate elongation and decompression up against gravity and spring tension, the activity on your arm and hand placement pressing down in opposition, the flow of your breath and as a result of the movement. Pilates is not just a series of choreography. It’s all in the details. Just like life is the same. This year has not just been about a virus that has stopped the economy and placed us in a health crisis. It has allo...wed us to stop, to reevaluate what is meaningful and what deserves to stay in our lives, what details we want to keep and what needs to go. It’s in the day to day of how we treat each other, of how we hold space for others, what relationships we value, what movement we place in our day, the books we read, the energy we surround ourselves with. Pilates is the same. The small details make the big picture either meaningful or not. Pilates is synonymous with life. How I do Pilates is how I want to do life - with intent, with kindness, and with authenticity. @hayneshayley #pilates #pilatesaustralia #health #wellbeing #wellness #fitness #mindfulness #mentalwellness #physicalwellness #breath #strength #flexibility #kiamansw #isolation #stayhome #pilatesreformer #stretch #smalldetails #apmamember #decompression #kindness #spreadkindnesseverywhere

06.01.2022 G R A C E Grace is moving your body through space in an elegant and controlled manner, being so specifically in control of your motor patterns and finesse of movement. Doing. Repeating. Doing. Repeating. Ingraining the grace by which you move in your neuromuscular feedback system so that it becomes habit. We are what we repeatedly do. Grace is being elegant, honourable and kind with your words and actions. Meaning what you say, and saying what you mean. Being loving and hones...t with others, and with yourself. Grace is holding your head up high in trying times. To have chaos moving around you but remaining centred and grounded in who you are, what you stand for and what you offer to the world. I watch many of my clients step into the role ...of motherhood, and just love seeing their world and their identity evolve into something so much greater than they ever knew possible. This isn’t new to any of you - but I absolutely can’t wait to be a mother. 04.01.2022 M O V E M E N T There is NO bad movement. Only movement done badly. I embody this statement every day in the studio with my clientele and is something I preach and practice in my day to day life. Running is not bad. Squatting is not bad. Jumping is not bad. Cycling is not bad. I encourage you to step away from labelling exercises or movements as either good or bad, but rather asking yourself is this therapeutic for my body when done WELL?. i.e. Do I currently have the corr...ect bio mechanical efficiency to execute this well? Is my musculoskeletal system balanced in such a way that this movement is not exacerbating dysfunction current in my body? Our body and our joints are designed to move in ALL directions! Spinal flexion, spinal extension, rotation, lateral flexion, hip extensions, hip flexion, external rotation, internal rotation etc etc. What you need is a qualified movement therapist to assess where your default patterns, your preferences and your restrictions are to then prescribe what will be therapeutic for your body to improve its movement efficiency and function. For example, if you spend most of your week in whatever movement you engage in doing 100’s of squats or cycling on your bike 100km every week (both predominantly in hip flexion) and not encouraging a balance of any hip extension in your program - you are eventually going to encourage a very unhappy pelvis, back and body! Quality over quantity, as well as balance is what we want to see! Balanced movement engagement, balanced musculoskeletal systems and balanced and functional breathing! Come and see us for an assessment and let’s get your body moving WELL! @hayneshayley #pilates #pilatesaustralia #health #wellbeing #wellness #fitness #mindfulness #mentalwellness #physicalwellness #breath #strength #flexibility #kiamansw #isolation #stayhome #pilatesreformer #stretch #apmamember #movementengineer

You have made an at times painful and challenging year bearable, and in the good times you have made them truly great. I am SO grateful for all of you. From my heart to yours, thank you. We are taking a well deserved break for two weeks with the studio reopening on Monday 11th January. We can’t wait to see you in the new year. Take care of yourself, and your loved ones. 03.01.2022 C O N C E P T S A GOOD Pilates educator will teach you concepts, relationships and movement skills. It’s not the choreography, it’s the concepts that my clients learn in the studio in how they hold themselves in the real world - that’s where the magic happens. What they learn in the controlled microcosm of the studio and how they apply that to their day is where the change happens. Change happens through movement and movement heals. I’ll say that again - MOVEMENT HEALS. But t...hat movement education needs to be sound, justified and therapeutic for THAT particular body. It needs to be thoughtfully designed and empathetically prescribed for that persons needs. Skilled movement practitioners can look at a body and visually observe what is needed in that body but it is absolutely a team effort between client and teacher. Is their skeletal system optimally aligned? Can they support their body using their deep system? Can their movement expand out from that depth? Is their breathing optimal and functional? Are they calm and present in their body? Looking at these concepts really promotes truly skilled movement and I personally love the challenge of aiming for mastery of this day to day. Some days are better than others, but that’s life. Can you see the relationship between what you see here in Short Spine and it’s relevance to Rolling Like a Ball, Tower and Stomach Massage. Observe the concepts and understand the WHY. Find what movement truly lights you up, enhances your happiness and promotes healing for you on many levels. Then do that regularly. Do it thoughtfully. And do it from a place of love. For me and my clients, Pilates is that answer. Pilates is truly healing for my body and for that of my clients. Thoughtfully prescribed movement is rare to see these days and I am proud to offer that at Inhale. @hayneshayley #pilates #pilatesaustralia #health #wellbeing #wellness #fitness #mindfulness #mentalwellness #physicalwellness #breath #strength #flexibility #kiamansw #isolation #stayhome #pilatesreformer #stretch #reformer #movementheals

02.01.2022 R E S I L I E N C E noun - The capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness Never have I been asked to call on my mental reservoir of strength more than in the last 6 weeks to carry me through without falling apart (too much). Change is the one thing that is guaranteed in life but when all things that should be stable literally fall away from beneath you, all at once... in the same day - you really learn to determine what kind of stuff you’re actually made of! ... Resilience isn’t only credited to the stuff you’re made of, but it is also a true reflection of the support network you have nurtured and built around you - this is the biggest reason I have been able to overcome the adversity of the last 6 weeks. Communication has also played an enormous role. Having the vulnerability to reach out to loved ones and let them know I’m struggling. Without these two things, in conjunction with my own character and strength, I would of fallen to pieces these last 6 weeks. Find your tribe - love them hard. @hayneshayley #pilates #pilatesaustralia #health #wellbeing #wellness #fitness #mindfulness #mentalwellness #physicalwellness #breath #strength #flexibility #kiamansw #isolation #stayhome #pilatesreformer #stretch #beachyoga #beachpilates

02.01.2022 P I L A T E S Continue learning. Expand your knowledge vigorously and continuously. As William Shakespeare best put it A fool thinks himself to be wise but a wise man knows himself to be a fool. My thirst for knowledge of movement and anatomy is never quenched. It is this passion that makes my work so successful.
