23.01.2022 3D scanning cats is very difficult, they do not start still for longer than 2 seconds, and want to rub their face on the phone. App: #stlmaker @scandy.co
21.01.2022 More tiny Lapras resin prints. These are slightly larger than before, and now you can see the bumps on the shell! These are printed for @tri.caps you should check out their work!
21.01.2022 I’m using the 3d scanning app #stlmaker by @scandy.co in low-light, and discovered that the cats eyes do not reflect the infrared light put out by the iPhone’s lidar sensor. This is a view from in-app.
21.01.2022 A lot of my weekend was spent servicing and re-levelling 3D printers. The #upmini2 featured here was manually levelled with the computer and a folded sticky note. I’m happy to report that it is now successfully 3D printing!
20.01.2022 Double the teeth! There are very subtle differences between the two models. Can you spot the differences?
19.01.2022 Exploring different cloud formations for 3D printing. Not very soft in plastic Can you recognise what the designs are from? Hint
19.01.2022 A halo of Belconnen Owls #belconnenowl Would you call this a flock? A gaggle? A parliament...?
19.01.2022 If you’re in Brandon, then you have to check our mini bus stop and socks in @popcanberra
17.01.2022 I’m experimenting with the app #stlmaker again. This time I turned the camera to a particular spiky tree. I wanted to see if the scanner could pick up the sharp details. The results are still a bit muddy, but I can’t complain for a 3D scanner that fits in my pocket!
15.01.2022 VOTE #1 OWL HE'S A HOOT
14.01.2022 Mario has popped up in Canberra! I’ve been seeing pictures of this on Facebook, so when I saw it, I immediately had to find somewhere to park. The Mario is really cool, and well worth getting a selfie! I was super keen to learn how it was made/painted, because the colours are so bright! Did you know it is Mario’s 35th anniversary?!
11.01.2022 Take a moment just to appreciate the UP! 3D printer head. #3dprinting #3dprintinglife #tiertime #up3dprinter #upplus
11.01.2022 Reverse engineering and rapid prototyping. This simple part is from a 1978 car.
11.01.2022 An update for the awesome work with @winzfactor I’ve 3D printed prototype armatures for their Gundam diorama. This checks assemble, and helps visualise how the scene will look. A few corrections can be made from this Iteration. The final result is going to look incredible! So you should stick around for the next update!
08.01.2022 Can you tell what we’re 3D printing? Lots of tough-bunnies for @stargirl1013 and @btscanberra_
08.01.2022 Printing off many little clips that perform a very important task.
08.01.2022 Sketching and dimensioning a small part for 3d Printing. Easy reverse engineering just with digital campers, and your eye. Worth a digital copy, we can 3D print as many parts as needed, and when ever needed.
04.01.2022 This is an interesting texture effect on a 3D print. I created this bubbly surface completely by accident. The surface of this 3D print was still soft from acetone smoothing. I wanted it to harden quicker, so I hit the plastic with the heat gun... but it didn’t take long for the surface to bubble and blister! I think it looks cool! A happy accident ... What design should I try this effect on DELIBERATELY! See more
04.01.2022 This weekend, I’m running deliveries all over Canberra again! If you see the bus stops please tag me! I love seeing them in the wild!
03.01.2022 A missing part re-made with 3D printing, and installed into the dashboard of a 1978 Ford Cortina.
02.01.2022 Big LEGO hands, part of a big LEGO person! The next parts will have to be made on a larger print bed.
02.01.2022 Miniature figures printed on the Anycubic Photon and dusted with paint. Stay tuned for more pictures to come!
01.01.2022 Printed a simple box for this Arduino mesh network communicator.
01.01.2022 A short clip from last month’s bronze pour. Leftover metal in the crucible is poured into ingots for easy storage. They remain hot for a long time after, so hot that the metal can ignite a match just by coming in contact! #canberradesigner #maker #bronzecasting #artmaking #metalart
01.01.2022 Miniature by @hintthegame 3D printed on the #anycubicphoton This is from their Patreon Unit9 collection. Perfectly designed cyberpunk miniatures for 3D printing!
