25.01.2022 RDA hunt for horses Following the restart of our program after the COVID shutdown, we are looking for two additional horses to add to our herd. Suitable horses ...must be for sale and available for a six-week trial. While our herd comprises a range of horse types and sizes, the immediate challenge is to purchase two sound horses between 15 and 16 hands in height, and aged between eight and 16. To work with riders with a disability, a suitable RDA horse should be quiet, easy to handle and people-friendly, preferably with a pony club or all-rounder background. Our horses work eight to 10 hours a week with program participants at the walk, trot or canter. Horse riding helps people with a disability to build their muscle and core body strength, and improve coordination and balance. We take great pride in the health and welfare of our horses. To stay fit, RDA horses work regularly with RDA and external coaches, and are often ridden out on local trails. All horses are sponsored by businesses, community groups and residents, with their medical needs attended by Samford Valley Veterinary Hospital, and saddle fitting and bodywork services provided by local business, Inline Equine. If you have a horse for sale that fits these requirements, please call Samford RDA on 0458 246 883. Your horse will be assured of a happy, meaningful life assisting people with disabilities.

23.01.2022 Caught out in the rain like I was this morning? Its hard to avoid in this weather. But how do you care for your precious Saddle? Dry. 1. Clean. wipe your saddle with a clean dry cloth, preferably cotton to remove excess water. 2. Condition. While the leather is still damp, apply a good coating of leather conditioner. For this you cant go past Oakwoods leather conditioner. While there are many wonderful brands on the market, this one is also sold at most supermarkets in the... cleaning aisle therefore there is no excuse! 3. Protect. Wipe off excess conditioner with a cotton cloth then apply an oil or beeswax based dressing to protect the leather from water penetration. A good protectant will cause water to bead off the leather. I love Keiffer Leather Care Cream and Sedgwick Leather Care Cream, both beeswax based. If your leather is soaked, like my boots were this morning, allow them to naturally dry to the point of being damp - but not dry then condition and protect.

23.01.2022 COVID-19 is really shaking up our world. Its having such an enormous impact on everyone and also our Equine companions. For many they are actually being worked more. And what a fabulous opportunity for more training. Your companion may be in need of Bodywork or a saddle fitting and for now this is still an option. I will continue to work for as long as I can but I will be taking extra precautions. I am disinfecting myself, my car and my work area between each job and also a...ny of your equipment and tack I have contact with. In order to maintain the social distancing regulations, for all of our safety please have your horse tied up in a shaded area ready to go. I will email you a report and advise you of any findings. I will still be accepting cash or card payments, cash will be disinfected immediately. But If you are unwell, please cancel your appointment - we can always reschedule at another time. Please take care of yourself and together we can get through this. See more

18.01.2022 Due to increased demand Naomi will now only be servicing local areas during the week and putting all existing customers bookings as priority. She will still visit other areas such as Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast & Ipswich but it will be one Saturday per month or as the demand changes other days.

18.01.2022 Hi Guys, Naomi is going to be away from the 13th-20th, so please expect some delays. Thank you for your understanding.

18.01.2022 With not much riding happening here at the moment its a good time to think of what you can be doing on wet arenas or flat Work areas when you can saddle up again. This exercise is great yet I always forget about it.

15.01.2022 When to worm... here is some invaluable advice for you.

14.01.2022 I see a lot of people loop the lead rope around their hands. Please, please don't do this! If your horse gets a fright and pulls away or bolts...... Best case scenario you will get some rope burn. Worst case scenario you will lose the skin of fingers, or lose the finger, or the rope will tighten and you will get dragged! Obviously there are other things that can happen as well. Just don't do it. It's not worth it! Instead. Fold the rope back over itself and hold it in the middle. It allows you to siphon the rope through when you need more or less. And it keeps your hands and arms SAFE! Enjoy your horsey time but please stay safe x

14.01.2022 These past couple of weeks in particular Ive done a lot of talking to clients about posture - form vs function and how functional health can be restored by improving posture. Notice all of the horses pictured have come up through the withers, lifting through the sternum, which makes the back lift at the base of the withers - the most common location for kissing spines!

14.01.2022 Can you build a saddle up from its base? Naomi sure can ...

14.01.2022 Details to be uploaded to nominate shortly

14.01.2022 What is body work? Are all body workers the same? What have you studied? How do I know I am dealing with someone who has a lot of experience? Why do some cost more and some less? Why do some take 10 minutes and some take almost an hour? 12.01.2022 Exercising Horses Safely in Summer As Summer is now in full swing, we want to share with you an article from Horses and People giving advice on prevention of ...dehydration, heat stress and heat exhaustion. Hot weather can present a challenge to horses, especially if they are competing, are old or overweight, or have existing health problems. Sensible management in hot weather can help reduce the risk of heat-related problems. Horses can acclimatise to perform in the heat, but only if they are exercised in the heat. When acclimatised, horses will be at less risk of heat-related illness, but exercise capacity will still be reduced, compared with the capacity for exercise in cooler weather. Learning to identify the signs of heat-related illness, knowing how to cool horses effectively and when to call for veterinary help can save lives. Follow the link to learn about all the signs and tips to bring your horse through summer: https://horsesandpeople.com.au/tips-for-exercising-horses-/

01.01.2022 Working from home? Nows the time to get your saddle fit and body work sorted! Theres a lot of anxiety going around at the moment and rightfully so, nobody knows how this will all pan out. But the best thing for you is to try not to stress. Luckily as a horse owner, you have one of the best stress relieving combinations out there - your best friend & nature! Whats better than cruising through the forest in the fresh air, having a gallop on the beach or riding the most ama...zing practise test in your arena? Making sure that your horses muscles are soft and supple and that your saddle fits correctly will give you that added peace of mind when trying to relax and enjoy your time together. Naomi will ensure that your health and your horses health are paramount - she already has a strict sanitation process after each client (because you know... horses ...) and theres no need for her to be in close contact with the rider during this process. Please send her a message via Facebook or Email now to schedule a time: http://inlineequine.com.au/booking-form/
