24.01.2022 The name IN-Motion, because even when we are still our body is in a constant state of motion, in our endeavor to achieve balance between our inside and outside environments. The colours, green and orange, for go and slow down, sometimes you need to slow down before you can go again. The Logo, represents the continuous cycle, IN-Motion. Myotherapy, the prefix Myo = muscle.



22.01.2022 Monday Inspiration! Motivation can escape us in winter, but with August nearly half way through and spring just around the corner, the time is now to make some time for you, so you can enjoy all the things the warmer weather brings with it!

21.01.2022 Winter can start to feel a little bit endless by this time of year. Although weve been lucky to get a little bit of sunshine, by now our bodies are starting to feel the effects of trying to keep warm.. Your neck and shoulders start to feel a little bit stiff and sore and its hard to remember exactly what warm hands and feet feel like. So my number 1 tip this winter is to keep a heat pack handy. Simple but so effective if you use them the right way. Personally I love lupin ...filled bags and always remember to heat them with a glass of water, moist heat penetrates deeper into the body than dry heat. To best warm your hands and feet the trick is not to actually place the heat pack on your hands and feet but to place it on your abdomen at about the level of your belly button. When were cold, blood is drawn away from the limbs and surface of the skin, to the middle of our body, in the aim to reduce heat loss and keep our important organs warm. So heating your core this way actually applies the heat to where the most blood is and after 5-10 minutes that blood heats to a level that the body now needs to cool down a little. So what happens? All that wonderfully warmed blood gets sent out to your limbs and the surface of your body and you will feel thoroughly warmed instead of just warm where the heat pack has been sitting. This is now a great time to do some gentle neck stretches and deep breathing to encourage those tight/tense muscles to start to relax. Perfect for right before bed, particularly if you are like me and cant sleep till those tootsies are warm.. See more

20.01.2022 In my life I think Ive spent more time on a horses back than I have off it, even though I havent done a lot of riding in the past 8 years. If you fell off, you got straight back on, because if you didnt, the fear settled in and made your next ride a lot harder. Ive found movement to be quite similar, the longer you fear it, the harder it is to get your confidence back. So if youve had an injury or are experiencing pain and discomfort, getting back on the proverbial horse as soon as you can, will mean you recover a lot quicker!

14.01.2022 A little Monday humor for you. Sometimes it feels like we need a weekend to recover from our weekends! If your muscles are feeling a little stiff and achy after a hard weekend, book a Myotherapy appointment and get some relief!



14.01.2022 We all have things we love to do! I personally love being able to do handstands and cartwheels with my daughter and for awhile I was just too stiff and tight to be able to do them comfortably. Myotherapy helped to give me back the movement I needed to be able to do them again without feeling like I was going to injure myself. Is there something youve stopped doing because you just dont move like you used to?

10.01.2022 Ever felt like this? Too much pressure can leave you feeling a little sore and sorry for yourself after a treatment. Although Myotherapy does target those pesky tender points in muscles, there are different ways to alleviate them other than hard pressure, which can be more effective and kinder to your body. Targeting the right tender point/s has the effect of reducing pain, aches and the muscle tension you are feeling. These points are directly linked to the nervous system a...s opposed to something physically wrong in the muscle and form a communication system within the body. In a perfect world, you work hard, ache a little at the end of the day, slow down rest, have a good nights sleep, where the body resets itself and wake up feeling ready to go again. Unfortunately, in our busy modern day lives, that reset button gets a little stuck sometimes and you can find yourself in a constant state of aching or pain, requiring a little bit of help to break out of that cycle, which is where Myotherapy can really help. Of course at times a physical injury, such as a sprained ankle, comes into play, which the body needs to time to heal, but following that any residual aches and pain, is still often the same as the above. 07.01.2022 Myotherapy can come in many different forms and we all treat a little differently. You can expect from me a few questions, some tests, a fair amount of soft tissue work and perhaps a few stretches/movement exercises to help integrate the soft tissue work. My treatments tend to be very endurable to most people as I predominately use a technique that works quickly and effectively to release muscles of their tension and restore range of motion to joints. Working this way usually prevents after treatment soreness and leaves you feeling lighter and more relaxed, due to the direct effect on the nervous system. 04.01.2022 This is an exercise to help with a stiff and sore neck. Just remember to follow step by step, avoid excessive pain and stop if you get dizzy. Its important that when you stretch your chin up towards the ceiling to push out through your chest as well as this will stop too much compression through the back of your neck. Dont expect to get quite as much movement as in the video to begin with, just do what is comfortable for you. Its the movement itself that is beneficial, not so much how far you go. 04.01.2022 Waking up with a stiff and sore neck can be a little concerning. It can be quite painful to even turn your head, which makes driving a little hard and well a bit dangerous. It is quite common though and most likely the result of sleeping in an awkward position for part of the night. Particular muscles of the neck and shoulders tend to begin to refer pain if they spend too long in the same position without moving, sometimes this will resolve itself though out the day or sometimes you may need to see a Myotherapist to help. There is a simple exercise you can try to help relieve the pain which I will post shortly for you.
