Now I want to go back to make a short film to create awareness of this global atrocity. I want to tell this story. It must be told. I want to be a voice for those kids - they don't have one of their own. I need you to help me.

24.01.2022 I have heard the deep gut wrenching screams of anguish of a survivor of the child sex trade. It went on and on and on... as she released her pain. I will never forget her cries. I have held a young girl who cried so long and so hard that my dress was soaked with her tears - they began to drip from my hem onto my legs. These kids need someone to care, they need their story told. https://www.gofundme.com/traceyheers Please donate if you can - every dollar helps. And please share. Together we can!
23.01.2022 Today the wind is fierce. The sea is a churning mass of white foam and dark greens. I think of those at sea on unsafe vessels, those without a comforting shore to aim for - sick, cold and frightened. And I offer up a prayer for them.
22.01.2022 People without citzenship are powerless. They often don't have the freedom to gain viable employment or even to move freely within a country. These are the people who live in poverty along the borders of places likeThailand and Myanmar. They have little or nothing in the way of possessions and no way to improve their lot... unless they try and escape on a leaky boat headed for somewhere (anywhere) better than where they are, or take up the offer of scheming people traffickers offering 'jobs'. Men find themselves enslaved on fishing vessels for months and even years without pay; young girls find themselves in the back rooms of brothels forced into a life of servitude performing unthinkable acts with lusty stangers, endless nights of abuse. We must address the root of the problem. We, the privileged and the free, have a responsibility.
20.01.2022 It's Monday morning. Some of us get up and get ready for work, some to study, some pack kids lunchboxes and send children off to school.... we attend to the daily issues of life. Some of us grumble (me) because it's Monday and where did the weekend go. But I spare a thought for those who don't have the luxury of our daily 'grind'... those sleeping rough as the weather becomes increasingly cold and hostile to the homeless; the many across our planet who spend each day in survival mode - trying to get enough food and clean water to keep the family alive; and our brothers and sisters still at sea in search of a better life. I give thanks for my Monday and pray for a world where we refuse to let such inequality exist.
18.01.2022 The traffickers are ruthless, supply must meet demand. Kids are big business, especially in the sex trade. And so the horror continues... day after day.... While men will pay, children will be trafficked. https://www.gofundme.com/traceyheers See more
18.01.2022 Fundraising is hard work. There are so many charities out there competing for the compassionate dollar, so many people doing wonderful things. This is an emotional journey for me, a heart in hand kind of deal, and its wearing. I am feeling a little tired. But that's the time to grasp the vision even more tightly. Love to all the generous souls who have given to the making of In My Sisters Shoes. Thank you for believing.... https://www.gofundme.com/traceyheers

18.01.2022 I remember the first time I ever saw child exploitation online. I was at work and a spam email arrived. I opened it and there before my eyes were pictures I have never been able to erase from my mind - children with terrified, anguished faces being sexually abused by adult men. I called the police and was put on to a unit in Brisbane who work specifically in this area. The detective got me to send the email through although he assured me they have such strong spam controls it... wouldn't arrive in his inbox. It did. He went on to explain that there was nothing he could do. There was no way to trace who was behind this. It was designed to get creeps to click through and the links would be taken down within hours. There is a market in children. Great to see this tech lab has been set up to fight the dark web. http://money.cnn.com//thorn-innovation-lab-ash/index.html See more
16.01.2022 Meet a 21st-Century Slave - We were told to smile, because a smile is money and will pull in customers, Poonam said. The girls were also ordered to say that they were over 18 and working voluntarily. Men visiting Poonam’s brothel paid $2.50 for sex and were sometimes oblivious to the brutality, flattering themselves that the girls liked their work. They see girls who often smile; no one is holding a gun to their heads.... Poonam responded with what so many others have said: The smiles are on the outside, even as girls are crying inside. http://www.nytimes.com//su/meet-a-21st-century-slave.html

12.01.2022 What do you do when you learn the story behind the child sex trade? A story that is so terrible it rips the breath from your lungs. What do you when you come home from an intense time of working with others passionate to save kids from this vile trade and everyone is just getting on with their lives, like the issue that has taken over your hear doesn’t exist? For me that answer is: tell the story, show what you have learned.... make the film - In My Sisters Shoes. After watc...hing Tony Kirwan on The Project last night I felt more than ever, this story needs to get out there. That interview barely scraped the surface, but it was a beginning. I pray the floodgates open and this issue comes into the consciousness of the masses. My finances haven't recovered from a year of volunteering. If I had the personal funds I would definitely use them. If you can help, be a co-creator of this important film, please donate and/or share this post. https://www.gofundme.com/traceyheers
12.01.2022 I witness a stunning act of sisterhood most mornings... Almost daily, the Bulcock Belles (a group of aging women who love the sea) link arms, and waddle four or six abreast, down the sands into the sea at Bulcock Beach... They do this to steady each other; the act adds strength and stability to those too infirm to make the quest alone... Arms linked they look as if they could take on the world... The sight always touches me. Deep. Inside...... I cannot make out which ones are the weaker, and which the stronger. They are exquisite in their unity. And I am reminded how much easier it is to face life's challenges side by side... Once 'in' the Belles’ faces light up, they are at sea, free, weightless, young - a group of laughing, splashing sisters full of fun and deep conversations. Their aged limbs move gloriously under the water... In My Sisters Shoes is also an act of sisterhood - the stronger, more privileged helping the marginalised; standing side by side, going the distance, together. 08.01.2022 There is a movement, a groundswell, there are good people who will not stand by.... "Child slavery is an abomination to mankind, and I will do anything I can to expose the scum that practise it," said Brown, who spends his time tagging a map of the lake when not working towards his online communications and leadership degree. He spends hours searching for boats and buildings on a satellite photograph as part of an online project to combat child slavery in Ghana's vast Lake Vo...lta. More than 20,000 children are forced into slavery on Lake Volta, the International Labour Organization estimates. They work 19-hour days and carry out dangerous tasks which leave many disabled, disfigured or even dead. Brown is one of thousands of volunteer "mappers" around the world laying down digital markers in an attempt to establish the extent of child trafficking in the fishing industry across one of the world's biggest man-made lakes. Crowdsourcing project Tomnod is working with the public-private partnership The Global Fund to End Slavery to produce accurate and public data - which could be used by activists, campaigners and the government to clamp down on trafficking. http://www.timeslive.co.za//Eyes-in-the-sky-Online-mappers
07.01.2022 The Toll The price paid for the pleasures of touring pedophiles is intolerable. They leave behind a swathe of impossibly damaged children - like road kill scattered in the wake of a speeding semi. The toll is tormented minds. Without intervention there is no hope - the torment becomes complete. The very poor are the most vulnerable. From the Psychiatry Advisor:... "Human trafficking takes a tremendous toll on its victims, and a new study indicates that there are significant mental health consequences, particularly with respect to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. Researchers from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King's College London, England identified 133 trafficked people, including 37 children, who sought mental health treatment at National Health Service facilities and compared them to randomly selected non-trafficked patients who sought treatment there. Of the trafficked people, 51% were trafficked for sexual exploitation. Thirty-nine percent of adults and 27% of children in the trafficked group were diagnosed with PTSD, the researchers reported in The Lancet Psychiatry. Depression was found in 34% of adults and 27% of children. And 15% of patients were diagnosed with schizophrenia."
06.01.2022 Men trawl through the night. Ravenous. They take what should never be taken - child flesh. And then, they leave the country. ... Please donate to help me make the film In My Sisters Shoes... so this story can be told. https://www.gofundme.com/traceyheers
