25.01.2022 Creating a Sanctuary in meditation is all about drawing in and from our qualities of love, compassion and welcome. We deserve that from ourselves and when we do, anything that is unloving inside us gets some healing and light. This changes things. It starts to take the growl out of those harsher voices and the sting out of those wounded thoughts and feelings. We create a presence that thrives inside us beyond meditation.Meditation is where we get to hang out for a while and cultivate good things in the inner space that we are living in always.

23.01.2022 Aha! So this is probably obvious. But to me, getting to this place of understanding obviously WASN’T obvious, or I would only have experienced burnout once in my life, instead of over and over again. What was the actual mystery? I don’t know. The pattern is simple and the same every time. When I am exhausted and at the end of my energy-resources (or indeed, in deficit), I am actually very good at boundaries and saying no, and not-doing, and cancelling and postponing. Of cour...se I am very good at all that - action comes swiftly when you have no choice. However, when I am feeling vibrant and lively and alert and clear, my passion for life says you go girl! You make big plans, say yes I can! And time itself seems boundless. A vast territory in which nothing need be squeezed in because there is literally space for everything / no limits! And not only that but now I can compensate for all the times I had to postpone all of this passion because I didn’t have the required ratio of energy to put it into gear. AND THAT, MY FRIENDS, is how the burnout cycle sustains itself. However I choreograph my dance through today, is going to influence all my tomorrows. I choose to maintain vitality, not sacrifice it, even to good intentions. Once you know something, you can’t really un-know it. You can kid yourself. You can hide from it like a cheeky child. But that’s not helping. That’s why I write my notes-to-self. To be my own life coach. Something we all have it in us to be. See more

21.01.2022 Healing isn’t really something we do, and then it’s done. Finished. Healing is a rhythm in our lives. We inhabit that rhythm every time we agree to listen to ourselves, be good to ourselves, and give ourselves a chance to extract the healing from whatever is available. When something comes yet again for healing, whatever that thing is, it’s not needy, it’s not a nuisance, it doesn’t mean you have failed. On the contrary it means - yay - here’s an opportunity to bathe in an even deeper bath of inner healing. I don’t complain that I have to eat or wake up or take a shower every day so why should I expect that healing is a thing you do once-and-for-all? Here’s to an abundance of healing experiences. There can never be too many. It’s one of the ways Life shows us it’s caring.

20.01.2022 No one should ever be the judge of how another person is dealing with something.

17.01.2022 Especially self love. It’s the actions which show us that we mean it. And this builds self trust, which in turn gives a feeling of inner stability - something solid to melt into when life takes us to feeling scattered, anxious or self-doubting. What kind of action might you take today on your own behalf to keep building that self trust and love? What kind of goodness?

16.01.2022 Let’s just keep doing us. Like we’re born to do.

15.01.2022 You are not damaged. Everybody hurts. Everybody suffers. Healing can only happen when we accept that. Healing can’t happen if we hate ourselves for suffering.... Consider this: Suffering is a normal part of everyone’s life. It’s not rare or unusual. Its not a weakness. It’s not a punishment for being terrible humans. It can’t be avoided. Suffering is simply a natural and universal part of life. That doesn’t invalidate how hard it can be. But to say that suffering is unnatural or something that is earned is to stigmatise and shame all those who suffer. This happens all the time in the case of mental suffering. Labelling it wrong, bad, weak or dangerous to suffer mentally is what makes those suffering feel worse and more isolated and can stop them talking about it to their friends and from seeking help and support. In other words, it takes away all the opportunities for healing. Your suffering does not mean you are damaged. It means you are human.

13.01.2022 New Meditation on Soundcloud Inspired by a friend who shared with me a spontaneous meditation she'd had lying in bed, in which she found herself calling into her being all the people she loved most, naming each of one, and then drifting off surrounded by and filled with powerful feelings of love. melting into this flow, she had the most delicious rest. I hope you enjoy this Love and Rest experience however it comes to you personally as you take this guided journey.

13.01.2022 My experience is that when I have taken the steps needed to feel emotionally grounded and well-tended, I feel I have a spiritual space around me. It’s an aura of loving protection not only for myself but for everyone I meet during my day. I often tell people how much I love and make sacred the first part of the day. I stay close to my thoughts and drink coffee and then I greet my body with some stretches or a walk. I usually pray, talk to my guides, feel blessings and gratitu...de. Feel where there is any fear or feeling stuck. Ask for help. Promise to support myself. Massage a little it’s okay into my heart. I don’t just do this for me. I am energy and I put out energy and I want to put out energy that makes people feel good and better. That is a desire I have. I want to be kind and patient. I can tell you there are days when I feel cranky and impatient and there are things which make me frustrated and angry. And those feelings are valid. When I was younger, more often than not it would affect all the innocent people I came across in my day Of course that can still happen. However I am more aware now that when I feel scattered or insecure or am hurting or even just tired and grumpy, I know to take extra care of my body and soul. We don’t just care for us when we care for ourselves. When we care for ourselves we are caring for everything. See more

13.01.2022 An affirmation for you Being mindful of the way we speak to ourselves in our private relationship with ourselves is important - being heartful, I think, is even better because our heart is THE best messenger when it comes to telling us how the words we speak to ourselves are making us FEEL. And how adjusting those words can directly make us and our world feel better. Be the voice you want to hear in the world.

12.01.2022 This. So much yes to this.

12.01.2022 How do you respond to your own feelings? Do you judge, criticise, push or punish certain feelings? Or are you kind and spacious? We talk about feeling safe in life. Mostly, we humans want to feel at ease and safe with ourselves. This starts with us and how comfortable we can make ourselves. Can you make it okay - between you and yourself - to feel whatever you are feeling? Sometimes, when I feel really uncomfortable or uneasy and my mind is racing to solutions to fix my feelings I have to remind myself to take a breath, dial my mind back to being present with exactly what I am feeling, press a gentle hand to my precious heart and say to myself: It’s okay to feel what I am feeling. If you think it might help, try taking some steady, trusting breaths with that thought. That truth. It is okay to feel what you feel.

11.01.2022 This year has been a tough one for so many and I know everyone is doing their absolute best. I truly honour you in that. I wrote this article because I kept hearing people use this language of "being tested by the Universe".... "I choose not to use this language of being tested by the universe. Not in mentoring my clients, not in my personal life. There are things in life that challenge each of us. The right way to meet challenges is whatever the healthy way is for each of... us and there are so many ways. Rather than, The universe has created a test for me, we could choose to say, my capacity to live and love is being revealed to me through challenge. And that is valuable beyond measure. I have found that one of the ways to meet challenges is to draw upon all that love that flows in us and through the universe. Abandon the test and look for love and trust. It’s in our compassionate mind and hearts, it’s in our memories, it’s in the simple things. It’s all around us in nature, in the arms of our best friend, the steady gaze of our pet, the things that delight our hearts, the part of us that always knows a shift will come. Maybe it’s not about proving we are loveable, but about accepting it." https://shutupandyoga.com/what-if-the-universe-wasnt-testi/

09.01.2022 How our ancestors instinctively practiced meditation before people made up meditation rules. Daydreaming with their eyes open and feeling their hearts come alive. And still we do this.... Must be a good thing then. See more

08.01.2022 I do not meditate to retreat from myself and life, but to get intimate with both. I meditate to come home to my heart even when it is tender and aching. I meditate to come home to my body even when it is hurting. I meditate to come home to my mind even when it is busy. I meditate to come to my spirit even when it is elusive to me. The point is, I meditate to be with myself entirely exactly as I am, knowing I can be there for myself and care that much. It is a relief and a joy to have this inner space.
