25.01.2022 DAYS FOR GIRLS PROJECT Inner Wheel Pakenham is lucky to have a contact who regularly goes to Cambodia as is willing to take our "Days For Girls" packs at no charge to us. Trudy spoke on the Green Gecko Project (Tnai Samrap Srey/Days For Girls) at our last zoom meeting giving our members an insight to how the packs are distributed and the growth over the time that the project has been going. The project has expanded to include information not only about menstration but womens... health in general. Trudi explained how this topic has been one of not being talked about to the girls eagerly asking questions during the presentation which is mandatory before the recipients get their bag of goodies. This project has been seen to be so beneficial that it is now enxpanding into the schools for all girls to be educated. Pakenham "Days For Girls " get togethers have been on hold during the current pandemic but usually gathers upto 12 members producing the packs and have a really great social time as well. Donations of cotton material is always welcome. pictured--Our first lot of packs ready to be taken to Trudi, Trudi, happy recipients of the packs, Those first packs needed more and more boxes to fit them all in, the Green Gecko in conjunction with Hearts for Harmony going out to do a presentation and more happy recipients. 06.01.2022 NICU Cheer Hearts This project is being undertaken by Meaghan for her Baden Powell Scout Award she plans to make a 200 snuggle hearts and have others assist with the making of another 100 additional hearts this goal has been exceeded. These hearts a placed in pairs one heart is given to the Mum,she places this on her chest to pick up her scent with the other heart placed close to the Bub for the same reason, the hearts are then swapped so Mum and Bub are left with each other's scent. This program has been introduced to help the mother with lactating when she is apart from her baby, while the scent from the Mum has a calming effect on the Bub.
