24.01.2022 And here we were thinking that Australian, all handmade ceramics is what we had to offer our visitors........apparently not! We are now a Pokestop! place for all you Pokemon Go players! Now that was a surprise when one young man came in to 'collect' Pokemon items for his virtual creature and we found ourselves as part of this extremely popular game.......somewhat bewildering for us! https://www.facebook.com/PokemonGoOnline/ Also part of our gallery is of course our latest exhibition 'Mud & Oil' which has it's Opening event this Saturday at 2pm. So if its ceramics or Pokemon critters we'd love to see you! Wed - Sun. 10.30am-5pm
24.01.2022 Showing in the Inner City Clayworkers Gallery room is the new exhibition 'A Natural History' by Ellin Pooley and Denise MacDonald featuring their beautiful porcelain works ......but....quietly lurking in the Stockroom is the unpublicised treasure trove of work from other ICCW artists for you to see. Inner City Clayworkers Gallery is home to 10 other ceramic artists and examples of their individual and varied work can be found permanently on show in the Stockroom. Tiny trinkets such as ceramic buttons, mobiles, cicadas and teabag holders crowd the shelves alongside cups, bowls, vase forms and sculpture........truly, something for everyone! Seeing the exhibition or browsing the shelves is easy with gallery hours 10.30am-5pm Wed. - Sun.
24.01.2022 It's been a long time since we posted but we've been undergoing quite a big change in our co-operative. We have come to a point where we are closing our bricks and mortar Inner City Clayworkers Gallery shop in Glebe after 30 years and will open a new online shop along with a new look website shortly. In the meantime we'd like to ask your patience and say that we can still be contacted for pottery sales. commissions and enquiries through our Facebook page or through our old w...ebsite and email addresses over the transition period. We look forward to our new iteration of our well loved co-op in it's new life.

21.01.2022 Ceramics exhibition 'A Natural Selection' featuring Denise MacDonald and Ellin Pooley's eyecatchingly beautiful porcelain works is coming to an end this Sunday 11th October....Make some time over this weekend to come in and enjoy the exibition before it closes..... following up with a relaxing coffee afternoon along Glebe Point Rd's many popular cafes. Gallery hours this weekend are 10.30am - 5pm. Be good to see you.
21.01.2022 Our annual exhibition of our co-op's New Members works. This year we are proud to present Farideh Khajavi, Emily Laszuk and Janet Selby as our new members at Inner City Clayworkers Gallery. Each potter's work is very distinctive eventhough they each uses illustration as a major aspect of their pieces.... Farideh's work uses washes of colour and scratched back line work on a deep terracotta background. Emily excels at fine cobalt blue line illustrations of domestic and native animals on pristine white surfaces. Janet's work is rich in colour and whimsy as her Australian animal children's book creatures are bought to sculptural life. Her serene bonsai ornaments are a perfect counterpoint. The New Members Show runs until 10th July and can be seen from 10.30am - 5pm Wed - Sun. See you there!
21.01.2022 Still showing until this Saturday 31st October is the 'Sweet & Sour' Show at Inner City Clayworkers Gallery by potters Sheila Myers and Tanya Peck. Bright, fun and totally engaging!. Gallery hours are 10.30am - 5pm Wed - Sun.
21.01.2022 Preparations are still underway for my upcoming exhibition 'Monochrome' beginning Wednesday 4th November til 22nd November at Inner City Clayworkers Gallery.........and as such my workbench is in total chaos! 'Monochrome' is an exhibition of mixed media ceramics and jewellery. I love the mix of natural colours and textures of unglazed clay and the various influences of felt, wood, stone, metal, fibre and found objects. I look forward to sharing my love of them with you. 4 - 22 Nov. 2015 Inner City Clayworkers Gallery 10.30am - 5pm Wed - Sun. See more
19.01.2022 Opening this week at Inner City Clayworkers Gallery is our newest exhibition 'Sweet & Sour' by potters Sheila Myers and Tanya Peck. Quirky, fun and colourful best describes these works. Sheila's animated terracotta 'boys' stand delightedly in the midst a small flock of ceramic finches.....and Tanya's colourful lemon, lime and licorice food inspired pieces will add a cheerful, summer air to any table. The exhibition Opening is at 2pm this Sunday 18th October at cnr St John's Rd and Darghan St Glebe and runs through to Sun. 1st November. Gallery hours are 10.30am - 5pm Wed - Sun.

16.01.2022 ICCW were happy to be at the first Glebe Artisans Market yesterday, 19th March, on one of the most mild, sunny, beautiful autumn days that you could wish for! 35 stalls were dotted around the pathways at Foley Park on Glebe Point Rd and there were wonderful varieties of art, ceramics, textiles, papercraft, homewares, jewellery, vintage and retro goods to pick through. There were also many, many people, kids and dogs walking through all day so there was ample opportunities ...to introduce our gallery to people who had never been before and welcome back those people who have been to visit us over time. Tanya handled our sales and Irene talked to everybody! All-in-all a lovely day out and we look foreward to being at the next one in June.
16.01.2022 A very small preview of the riotous colour, shape and form in the ceramics available at our annual Christmas Show!!. Inner City Clayworkers Gallery is open everyday this month 10.30am-5pm until 24th December.....shelves and plinths are laden with a huge variety of tableware, gifts and Christmas decorations suitable for any taste. Merry Christmas to all our regulars, guests and ceramics colleagues, best wishes for the New Year!
15.01.2022 Oh, it's that wonderful time again at Inner City Clayworkers Gallery where potters celebrate the rich colours and shapes of the beloved Aussie garden. Big, lush terracotta pots sit by dainty bonsai trees and furry, little cactus pots and the birdbaths await the splash of sparrows. The Garden Show is open throughout April and gallery hours are 10.30am-5pm Wed-Sun.... See you soon! See more
12.01.2022 Goodness....no posts for months and now 2 in one day!! Just got a message of concern about our MUCH LOVED Sydney Teapot Show and we WILL BE CONTINUING WITH IT.....but it might be a bit later while we reorganise ourselves. See the posts included here...... Tanya Bechara posted: So sad that these changes have been necessary for your co-op.... I hope it's not too soon or rude to ask but was wondering about the Annual Sydney Teapot Show. Since it's your "baby" so to speak and so many artists, collectors and admirers look forward to it every year I was wondering if you could still facilitate/coordinate a show (at a different location obviously) Anyway, it's just a thought. I bring it up now because i know the organising begins so early. Im sure there would be a lot of support for it within the ceramics community and we would all help get the word out via social media platforms and bring people to it. How I will miss doing the shoulder to shoulder "geisha shuffle" (as I always called it) through the gallery on opening night. Inner City Clayworkers Gallery posted: Hi Tanya, Yes, we will still be organising the Teapot Show but we think maybe not this year but about April next year (2018). We still have to close the actual shop, send every last piece of current and stored pottery back to it's home, restructure the co-op and find a gallery to host the Teapot Show and that it is probably short notice. We are negotiating for the Show with another Glebe gallery so it won't leave it's 'ancestral home'. Will keep the FB page and website up to date with details shortly but thanks for prompting me to start now....it's important!
08.01.2022 The outstanding graduating 2015 students of the ceramics courses in our TAFE coleges are on show at Inner City Clayworkers Gallery this month. F unctional work stands alongside sculptural works and those pieces having social or personal narratives...the collection carries a wealth of talent from this generation of clay enthusiasts! Well worth a look! The exhibition is open 10.30am - 5pm Wed - Sun.
08.01.2022 Some are plate size and some are enormous! It's all about table platters this month at Inner City Clayworkers Gallery. Decorative or plain, illustrated or glaze washed.....come along for a visit and, tell us your favourite! Gallery hours are 10.30am - 5pm Wed - Sun
08.01.2022 WOW!!! What a great Opening night to this year's Sydney Teapot Show! Many thanks to our judges for the hard task of choosing the 'best' in a field of so many 'bests'.. Many, many thanks to the Sponsors who help make the entrants strive to excel. .......and, of course, our heatfelt thanks to our potters community who bring so much talent, innovation, technique, humour, and excitement to the Show each year and who never fail to ellicit gasps and delight from all our visitors...!! The Sydney Teapot Show is open 10.30am-5pm everyday in August. ......it's only a sample now but there's ALOT more to come.....goodness....so many photos to sought through! See more
05.01.2022 Our newest exhibition at the Inner City Clayworkers Gallery features ceramic artists Ellin Pooley and Denise MacDonald exhibiting their extraordinarily beautiful porcelain work in the show 'A Natural History'. Both these women create works of classic form and fine sensibilty. Ellin's classic forms often have etched surfaces or beguiling line drawings on polished exteriors and Denise's forms while strongly utalitarian combine relief surfaces with striking glaze choices. This exhibition can be seen at the Inner City Clayworkers Gallery from 11 Sept. to 11 Oct. between 10.30am and 5pm Wed. - Sun.
05.01.2022 Yesterday afternoon at the Opening of the current Monochrome exhibition, we were all very taken by the sculptures, jewellery, food, lively conversations and especially Irene's very quirky record player! It was an exciting and fun way to celebrate a new exhibition. Monochrome is open to the 22nd November at Inner City Clayworkers Gallery and we hope you will stop by to see this lovely and unusual exhibition of work. The Guest book awaits your comments. The gallery is open 10.30am - 5pm Wednesdays to Sundays.
04.01.2022 Just a reminder for a last dash into Inner City Clayworkers Gallery this weekend for the Vivid show of ceramic artists Ilona Ede and Rosa Chan. This show is a mix of the wonderfully ecliectic and serenely conventional in ceramic styles. Our hours are 10.30am - 5pm Wed - Sun.
04.01.2022 A lovely afternoon Opening event for the 'Mud & Oil' exhibition! 03.01.2022 Inner City Clayworkers Gallery is excited to be part of the the very first Glebe Artisan's Market this Saturday 19th March at Foley Park. The market's steering committee has worked hard to offer Glebe the best in designer products this weekend and we look forward to browsing all the goodies too! Tanya and Irene will be wo-manning the stall for our gallery so stop and say hi!......oh yes, the girls can be humoured with coffee...
03.01.2022 It is with the saddest heart that we say farewell to Ilona Ede who died last night after a long illness with cancer. Ilona has been a member of Inner City Clayworkers for 15 years and we extend our deepest sympathy to her family during this time. Ilona's quirky pots and endearing ceramic characters will keep her memory with us for many years to come.... For those collectors who love Ilona's work please contact us for enquiries
02.01.2022 Inner City Clayworkers Gallery is proud to welcome our newest member Janet Selby into our collective........yay!! Janet came in today to bring in a selection of her work and raised eyebrows when she declared ''All my pots have holes in them''......not very surprising we realised as Janet is a specialist in the making of bonsai pots for the exhibitions and displays of Sydney's bonsai community. Janet's work, as well as the work of all our members, can be seen at the Inner City Clayworkers Gallery from Wednesdays to Sundays 10.30am - 5pm
02.01.2022 Beginning today and running through to 22nd Nov. is the new exhibition 'Monochrome' by ceramic artist Irene Charnas. These small scale sculptures reflect Irene's interests in spatial and textural relationships, the Japanese traditions of ikabana, Zen gardens and the aesthetic of wabi-sabi. This body of work is a wide departure from the gallery's usual functional pottery and figurative styles and we hope you will join us for the Opening event this coming Sunday afternoon 8th November at 3pm.
02.01.2022 It's still all about the great Aussie backyard at Inner City Clayworkers Gallery this month! Earthy, natural colours, shapes and textures are on display......smooth oiled surfaces contrast with rough granular forms and rich colours of deep blue, green and warm terracotta move the eye through the eclectic display. Still open for one last week the Garden Show will finish on 1st May. See you soon!
01.01.2022 As you may know we are closing our bricks and mortar shop at Cnr St Johns Rd & Darghan St Glebe. Our FINAL DAY OF TRADING will be Sunday 5th February 2017 from 10.30am - 5pm. Come see us and say goodbye as we set off on our new online gallery venture opening soon.
01.01.2022 Only 2 weeks to go!! Our last day of trading for our gallery shop will be on Sunday 5th Feb 2017 Have you ever had to move house and decide what to keep and what to give away? Those thoughts are on our mind as we plan our closing day.... We are allowing a week to sought out these things and clean up the shop before handing back the keys to the owner on the 15th.. Some of our members will be in the gallery during that clean up week if you have any enquiries of us.
