23.01.2022 Maybe she’s born with it ...OR maybe she works her butt off EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. You don’t get to where you want to be in life without some serious blood, ...sweat and tears. Let’s be honest if hitting those goals of yours isn’t a daily battle between your head, your heart and your commitments outside of what you’d rather be doing, is it really challenging enough for you? (And also are you even human??!) Life doesn’t get easier, workouts never get easier, does pigeon pose EVER get easier?! but you do learn to start looking for the lessons instead of the failures, you get better, you adapt and you get stronger. How awesome is this action shot of our gorgeous Gunning yogi Bel on handsome Cane, doing what they do best #polocrosse and #teamwork in Coffs Harbour this past weekend. There are many traits I admire in all the souls I cross paths with, if I had to pick one (sharing just one is really hard just FYI!) for Belinda it’s her passion for her family and her community and that she always shows up. No matter how busy her day working on her farm was or how knackered she is from training her horses or what injury or niggle she’s picked up along the way - she steps on to her mat every week. (See how hard it was to pick just one) Yoga prepares us for life. It transforms us and makes us stronger so we can step off the mat and with confidence say to ourselves, let’s do this. - Unknown Behind every great photo is an even better story Join @sp_Ames_o4 for Gunning Yoga tonight at 7pm (last one before we break for school holidays!) Let’s do this #womeninsport #womenofpolocrosse #gunningyoga #innercompassco #inspirationalwomen #consistency #strongwomen #womenkickinggoals See more

23.01.2022 Namasté is a combination of two different Sanskrit words - ‘Namah’ which means ‘bow’ and ‘Te’ which means ‘To you’. Simply translated Namaste means ‘I bow to ...you.’ Typically done at the beginning and end of the yoga practice, the physical and verbal expression of Namasté provides you with the basic benefits of yoga - before you have even begun your physical expression through asana (yoga poses). What you might not be aware of is the deeper meaning of this gesture. The physical gesture: 1. Placing your palms together at heart centre in Anjali Mudra; prayer posture 2. Close your eyes and bow your head as a symbol of unity and of the minds submission to the divinity of the heart. The verbal expression: In Indian societies, when you greet somebody by saying Namasté along with Anjali Mudra you are acknowledging that persons existence in the universe. And so the teacher and students acknowledge this in one another at the start and finish of class. Connecting them to the yogic lineage. My Soul honours your Soul. I honour the place in you where the entire universe resides. I honour the light, love, truth, beauty and peace within you because it is also within me. In sharing these things we are united, we are the same, we are one. Namasté (nah-mas-tay). #namaste #meaningof #namastemeaning #yogapractice #spiritualpractice #innercompassco #murrumbatemanyoga #yogawithamy See more

21.01.2022 Rest. Don’t give up or get down on yourself. There are many different expressions of rest and we all have our own favourite rest practices. There is such a thing as active rest. Continuing to move the body and spirit but at a notch or 2 below our max. In yoga, when we step onto our mats no matter the style we are there to connect to ourselves and to the breath and move our bodies in ways that are nurturing and regenerative. We bend, stretch and strengthen the bod...y and devote time to spirituality and inner reflection. Carving out time to move through a restorative practice or a yin class with chilled out poses isn’t a cop out. Its not weak. It’s giving yourself a great big hug, writing a journal entry and releasing built up energies which no longer serve you - all at once! When you’re feeling tired, get curious about what you’re feeling, and how this tiredness shows up for you. When you’re cranky, agitated and just not feeling yourself ask... - Are you getting enough sleep? - Are you drinking enough water? - Do you need a sugar detox? - Maybe you thought I said Come have a wine when I actually said Come and unwind Chill out and remember: Learn to rest, not quit. 03.01.2022 Tonight we will look at the Yama Brahmacharya... Consider for a moment where your energy is most directed. I’ll have a guess that a large part of it is put towards worrying and generally concerning ourselves with things that don’t really serve us best. A lot of our energy may also be spent on trying to present ourselves as someone we’re not in order to please or impress others, or maybe we direct our physical energy towards endlessly pushing ourselves to be fitter, stronger or skinnier. Does any of this sound like you? If so, it might be time to look a little closer at that Yama you’ve been avoiding... Namaste, Amy xx
