20.01.2022 MYTH: Getting sore means you had a good and effective workout. If this were true then anything that caused soreness and pain in your muscles would mean you stimulated muscle growth. I wish it were that simple. ... There is some debate as to what exactly causes sore muscles. We know there is some inflammation and some potential buildup of lactic acid but other than that we really arent too sure. Any exercise or routine outside your normal training can cause soreness. I train my body with weights on a regular basis but if I were to go swim for a mile I can assure you I would be sore the next day. Does this mean that the swim stimulated more strength and muscle growth than my regular weight training workouts? Nopenot at all. The only way to tell if a workout is effective is your PROGRESS, plain and simple. Are you progressing?? @larajez @yinyogabeginners @jettyrdglenelg

17.01.2022 Dear Inner Focus Family, As a result of the new restrictions announced by the Prime Minister regarding social distancing, all gyms were required to close today at Midday (23rd of March). While this is incredibly disappointing news, we respect the governments decision in this difficult time.... All our weekly memberships will be put on hold, with fees ceasing for the time that these government restrictions are in place. Our Annual and other Prepaid memberships will be extended accordingly. To our wonderful clients, thank you so much for your love and support thus far. We will be contacting you all individually with a plan for training moving forward. - Nick & the Inner Focus team.

16.01.2022 Tip 4- Why bother stretching? Such a common thing to miss out when exercising. The most important thing is training hard to get a sweat right??... Well, if youre training and not stretching or just having a little 2mins stretch at the end, you could be causing more issues to your body. Affecting your exercise performance Causing pains in your body that makes you feel like you have arthritis Not being able to sleep as you ache or feel tight Your muscles shorten every time you exercise so we need to stretch to lengthen them back. Adding in 10-15mins stretch everyday could really help your body. Or try a private Yin class with Lara on Tuesday nights at 7pm. Long deep stretches that will see you sleeping like a baby and feeling energised to train again. #health #fitness #stretch @larajez @yinyogabeginners

15.01.2022 LAURA LOST 5cms FROM HER WAIST. I actually met Lara by attending her Yin Yoga classes which I love. I started doing her group workout sessions online and then... in person. I hadn’t done anything like this before so wasn’t sure what to expect but I knew Lara so felt a little more comfortable. I measured my body when I first started and after 3 months of training I lost 5 cm from my waist. Totally shocked. Now, I am doing some 1-2-1s with Lara to work on my weaknesses such as recovering from a broken foot, unstable ankles and hips. I couldn’t squat very well to start with and now I’m getting low which surprises me. (Drop in the hole ) I also feel so much more stable when I run, stronger and fitter. Love the changes and more to come. Laura Bowden

09.01.2022 Tuesdays Health Tip- Lets talk Inflammation We always hear this buzzword flying around but how do you know if you are inflamed and what can you do?... Well if you have aches and pains in your body, painful or heavy periods, digestion issues for example...this could be due to inflammation. So rather than taking painkillers which is only going to be a temporary fix Have a go at introducing these foods... Calendula and nettle tea mix (can get loose leaf at Happy Herbs) Cinnamon and or turmeric (try adding to soups and porridge Coconut oil And reducing these foods... 05.01.2022 SLEEP! Nick and I bang on about it here in the gym and for a long time, I wasnt sure what I believed or agreed with. When I was in the corporate world I would function on 4-6hrs a night...... And I was fine. Since getting into the health industry I chose to put myself and my health first and I would get 7-9hrs a night. Not only that, but I would be asleep before 10pm. This is super important because the bodies natural detox window is 10pm-2am. I didnt want to miss even an hour of that window. Since having a baby, I havent slept well in over a year. Some nights I would only get 1 or 2 hrs of broken sleep. I was functioning though. And I was surprised. I wondered, do people really need all this sleep if we can function on such little?? YES, WE DO! After getting a few good nights sleep, when you get into a deep, REM sleep, the change is amazing. I had more energy I wasnt short tempered I felt happier in myself, less emotional. My skin was clearer My outlook was so much more positive I was more productive as I could think clearer I wasnt bloated anymore Yes, you can function on little sleep, but why would you??!! If you can get more, wouldnt you rather feel amazing than just fine. When was the last time you got 7 days straight of 8+ hours sleep? This month? This year? NEVER?! 02.01.2022 Tip 3 - Calories! Youre eating all the healthy foods but still cant lose weight?? Protein balls... Smashed avo Smoothies Acai bowls Nuts It might not be the foods. A common thing we find is people think by eating healthy foods means theyll lose weight. I hate to break it to you but if youre eating more than youre burning, it doesnt matter what you eat. Not sure how much you eat? Try tracking it on an app for 7 days. We like MyFitnessPal as its simple. This way you can see where youre over eating and make some tweaks. Often just by knowing how much youre eating can help with making simple and effective changes.
