22.01.2022 It was a fantastic day at the Family Fun Day at The Hub yesterday. I had a great time helping people make their own superhero badges. It was so good to get out and be at a live event, still carefully social distancing of course. The new Cleverman exhibition was in display, there were circus tricks and fencing, live music, green screen workshops and lots of other fun things going on. I'm also there tomorrow from 10am - 12pm if you want to stop by to make a badge. @ Caboolture Hub

19.01.2022 Big feelings can overwhelm us all at times. Instead of telling yourself how you should feel or why something shouldn't affect you so much, tell yourself this: it's okay to feel a lot. Then show that emotion in a helpful way, feel it in your body then express it through writing in your journal, dancing in the kitchen, singing loudly in the shower, doing something creative, talking to a friend, kicking a ball. How you do it isn't as important as taking the time, or giving yo...urself the permission to do it. #bigfeelings #bigfeels #emotions #toomanyfeels #mindfulnesspractice #resilience

14.01.2022 Halloween is the time of year when people are more open to being a little bit scared. If this speaks you you, maybe you could spend a little time this weekend sitting with those feelings that scare you. These could be uncomfortable feelings towards someone else, that pesky anxiety, uncertainty of the future, or the feeling that you are not enough, etc. There are too many options to list. These feelings can be far more terrifying than ghouls. If you are scared of your fee...lings it could be a good time to make friends with them and take notice of what they are trying to tell you. If they are big and scary, think of taming techniques you could try. Our emotions are like small children, most prone to go on a rampage when we aren't paying them enough attention. Even though it is uncomfortable, you can be kind to your BIG feelings, by listening to them and then reminding them that you are going to be okay. Because often your feelings are reacting to something outside of yourself that is scary, they puff themselves up to appear big and scary to protect themselves, but really they just need some TLC so they know that you've got things under control, then they can stop treating everything they don't understand like a threat. Even if you do not feel okay right now, remind yourself that this feeling will not stay big and scary, you can get through this. Remember, you do to have to do it alone, ask for help or spend time with a friend. The company alone might be enough to let the feeling tire itself out. Then you will be able to start feeling more like yourself again. 13.01.2022 I've finished my Medusa Snake please let me know which background do you prefer by typing 1, 2 or 3 in the comments. This is the first artwork in a series representing emotions on high alert during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have been able to spend a lot of time defining the ideas around this series and preparing the supporting workshops, thanks to the RADF Continue Creating Grant for Moreton Bay Regional Council.... I think I've nailed down a good representation of anxiety in this Gorgon inspired monster. What do you think?

09.01.2022 The school holidays are about to start with a BANG at the Caboolture Hub. Dress as a superhero for the FREE family fun day on Saturday 26th September. This is a small piece of the project I've been working on for the installation going up there next week.
08.01.2022 That one time I made a life-sized cardboard robot pinata for my son's birthday... I really pulled out all the stops that year. I remember thinking 'I wish I could do stuff like this for my job'. Fast forward 5 years and I designed Inner Hero Art. You can have the life you want, but no-one is going to just hand it to you, you have to create it. One cardboard robot at a time.
08.01.2022 You never know the effect a kind word can have, you can do a lot of good without a lot of effort. I truely believe in the transformative power of intentional kindness. I think it's the only thing that can really change the world. Note: kindness doesn't mean accepting other people's crap. It means choosing not to be the person that shares the crap around. ... Tag one person you know who is beautiful inside and out.
