23.01.2022 Beautiful Sunflowers turn according to the position of the sun. In other words, they chase the light. You might already know this, but there is another fact that you might not know! Have you ever wondered what happens on cloudy and rainy days when the sun is completely covered by clouds?... Perhaps you think the sunflower withers or turns its head towards the ground. Is this what crossed your mind? Well, that’s incorrect. This is what happens: They turn towards each other to share their energy. Nature’s perfection is amazing. Wish we could all apply this reflection to our lives. Many people may become low-spirited, and the most vulnerable ones, sometimes, become depressed. How about following the example of the beautiful sunflowers i.e."Supporting and empowering each other". Nature has so much to teach us. 21.01.2022 I am all about creating a life that is easier to navigate. I do not use tools that add to my overwhelm and as a life coach there are so many tools out there - from organisational tools to worksheets and check lists to keep you on track. No matter who you are, what your goals are and what you do in your day we all need focus to get stuff done. Being in alignment with your VALUES is paramount to living a fulfilled life.... I use this tool regularly with my clients when the question of our values comes up. Its so handy to use when you doubt the direction of where you are going or why we are doing something. For example you value health. Ask yourself what this means to you and how this value would ideally show up in your life. Then add some actions you can take to bring this value into your daily life. The work is simple yet powerful. It may also be that you change the name of your value based on the way it would show up in your life. 20.01.2022 Last year (OMG that is just crazy - Bush fires and COVID ) I ran face to face workshops about creating lasting change in your life... they were great if I say so myself! The in-person workshops were so inspiring - but don't let me harp on about how good they were, here are some words from some of the ladies that attended - 'Awesome to actually do the work and face my challenges in one session - I'd never have done it on my own'- Del 'Dawn was amazing, she helped me pin poin...t my values and I couldn't believe how I was heading in the opposite way! 18.01.2022 The one thing I love about the illustration below is the upward arrow at the end of both graphs... It doesn't matter that your life has been all up, down, twisted, mangled and spiralled you can always come out of it. What would happen if you took the courage to see and feel into the potential you know you have?... Getting aware of how you stop yourself - excuses, self sabotage, over thinking, living someone else's dream - from reaching your own potential is key. You might not even know your potential right now but you do know there is more ... You may not have to have a huge dream, maybe you just know there is more out there for you. Know there is more impact you can make. Know they is more you can give. Make tomorrow matter. 17.01.2022 I was half going to cancel my appointment - you know, too much to do and so little time to do it .... But NO. It's too easy to cancel things that make you feel better. I kept my appointment, I took my work with me plus ended up seeing my friend for a chat as she was unexpectedly in the chair near mine! So many wins today Now the grey is fully embraced and I managed to get some coaching work done How good does it feel to have your hair done? Thank you @vincentiahairandbeauty

15.01.2022 Is your life on permenant pause? Can't find the accelerator? For many being in a state of limbo in life really hurts.. Here are my top 4 tips to start driving your way so that you can make an impact in your life - 1. Circumstances are facts - don't stay in a situation you don't like. Change the situation, your attitude to it and don't get too hung up on it;... 2. Be in charge of your thoughts - think on purpose and start to generate a wonderful attitude to life; 3. Reframe your beliefs - Be your own best friend, stop comparing and accept was is and move forward; 4. Actions speak louder than words - Stop talking about action and take some (you can't steer a parked car!), Stop trying to get it all perfect (it will seldom happen), Speak up, take accountability, communicate clearly, Ask for what you want and do something for others. 14.01.2022 Overwhelmingly what I'm hearing right now is that we are 'tired/exhausted'... And is there any wonder? What a year and it's Christmas. Even with the most relaxed of Christmas celebrations the year catches up with us all at this time. I too am feeling tired and seem to be craving more sleep than usual. Why? With a year filled with Covid challenges and one that has been filled with more juggling than ever before - think bush fires, home school duties, working from home, confine...d quarters, loved ones alone and/or away, missing milestone celebrations and the fact that we haven't been able to travel far or even go on holiday surely has taken its toll. Our body both mentally and physically needs recharging. The holidays is the perfect time to do this. Yes, many of the juggling challenges are still front and centre for many and my heart goes out to those people having to end the year alone or struggling. However, there is a reason we are given these observed holidays ... Not to just eat and drink but to stop and recalibrate. Here are my tips that we can all apply to our lives at this time - Take a long hot shower or a calming bath. Add in some essential oils and let the steam and calm envelope you. If you can make some time after to either just go straight to bed or relax and read. Just stop. I know itsounds simple, but we are conditioned to power through, to keep pushing ourselves and this will lead to burnout. Stop before you are forced to. Take yourself out of your environment. Go for a walk or run or bike ride if you can. 8 minutes is all you need. If you can't leave home then go to a different room and listen to a guided meditation or do some box breathing ... It works. Improve your self talk. How do you talk to yourself? It's so important to back yourself, to love yourself and to cut yourself some slack. Would you talk to your best friend the way you talk to yourself? Take a step back and speak to yourself as you would your best friend. Ask yourself 'What does 'your name' need right now?' this is very powerful. When you put from name there not 'I' it empowers you to make a decision for what you actually want to do for you not anyone else. Make sure you follow through. Be with or speak and video family members. Go through fond memories and experiences. Make it fun. Do a quiz, get some photos out, laugh and whilst it may be hard not being with them, good memories bring the best smiles Christmas is all but done so try and down the tools, put yourself first and recharge even if only for half an hour - you deserve to love yourself. 13.01.2022 Something to think about...taking 15 minutes every day to do what makes your heart sing... That's not too much to ask is it? If you use those 15 minutes productively that's - 7 hours a month or 84 hours a year (which would equal 11 days if you worked at it for 7 1/2 hours a day!)... Now, you can't tell me you couldn't learn something new, pursue a dream or develop your skills if you spent a solid 11 days in one year doing it! Maybe it's time to start taking action on that dream!
13.01.2022 #TopTipThursday Earlier this week I asked 'Would you place a bet on yourself?' If you wouldn't put money on yourself to do something this is self doubt rearing it's ugly head ... AGAIN I reckon.... Whack that self doubt away - Tell it to lose your number and stop ringing - whether you have self doubt around making decisions, taking action or knowing your value... it is not serving you. That little gremlin that sits on one shoulder always doubting and niggling at you to keep asking others, seeking permission, saying no, telling you it's too hard and not for you... Tell it to bugger off! If you keep listening to this voice you will loose your capacity for curiosity. Go with your gut instinct. We as women have such a great instinct and I challenge you to go with how you feel and back yourself for a change! Happy Thursday friends

10.01.2022 LET'S TALK ABOUT MINDSET SHIFTS... The biggest mindset shift I have made this year has been to stop asking for permission - from myself or anyone else. It keeps me feeling small and hands my power over so I feel that I lose control over my thoughts and action - Always looking for someone to say it's ok to do something before I actually do it. I am not a huge lover of the control or power words however I also know that when you feel out of control you actually hand your powe...r over. Having stopped seeking permission from myself and others has helped me respond to situations as me and enables me to keep control of my reactions and thus the triggers that come with them. Make sense? Now, I'm not talking about being a control freak and dictator I'm talking about not handing my power away. My shift came as I went into 'door mat' and 'do as you're told' mode. Me asking for permission. When the light bulb moment came I realised that I was reacting rather than responding. Essentially I was creating the situation and causing my own triggers to come up. So, now I do what I say I will do, I have stopped asking for permission (even from myself) and started to just DO. It's changed the way I see so many things and it's created an awareness for me that stops me from settling back into old habits from a past life. I feel in the drivers seat and making decisions is much easier because I own them without seeking any external validation. 08.01.2022 Oh Christmas tree oh Christmas tree how... with a week to go it's getting exciting! For the past 8 years I have celebrated Christmas with Dirk's family (Mum, Heidi and brother Mark and his partner). They are from German heritage so we have a big Christmas Eve. It's turkey and all the German trimmings plus the grand opening of presents - one by one we open and see what we have gifted each other (luckily it's just 4 adults and Mac). Being British, I still love the whole waking... up to Christmas morning and the anticipation of a gift from Santa so I still do that with Mac and a gift for Dirk. The Christmas Eve tradition is so lovely from a family perspective, all together, eating, drinking then playing games but I hark back to the days of being a girl when my mum was Santa and laid out all our presents for us to get on Christmas morning. Our mam would put my Santa presents on the chair and my sisters where at either end of the sofa. I smile thinking about walking into the living room and seeing our gifts... a long sock filled with nuts, satsumas and chocolate and nik nak toys... memories that are etched in my mind. I don't miss the cold and wet weather that's for sure! How is your Christmas different from the one you grew up with? Or is it the same?

02.01.2022 Do you know that you can choose your thoughts? Choose how you believe about something? I know I know I can hear you say 'Well no Dawn, so many things that happen are out of my control'... And yes, I agree many things are out of our control BUT hear this, how you think about them IS in your control. ... Plus aside from what's happening in the world around you YOU can believe whatever you want to about YOU. Choose your thoughts and you can change so much in your life. You don’t need to get anyone’s approval. You don’t need to wait for evidence that it’s possible to believe something. Reaching your true potential as YOU starts with believing that you CAN reach it. Just start believing that you CAN. Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. Their thoughts are their business, not yours. Stop telling yourself you aren’t good enough or aren’t capable. Turn that one on its head! Stop making up excuses in your mind for why you can’t do or believe something. It takes the same amount of energy to believe you CAN as to believe you CAN'T. 01.01.2022 #TopTipThursday Whilst I love the old British 'Keep Calm and Carry on' saying and mentality (Infact here is my tea towel with it on ) I don't necessarily think we should take a deep breath and just forget about what's muddying the calm waters! How calm do you feel right now? ... Here are some great tips that work for me - Breathe - count to 4 breath in - hold for 2 - count to 4 breath out; Think a problem through until the end, what's the worst thing that can happen?; Call a good friend - not for solutions just to talk; Acknowledge that you feel anxious or worried; Remove yourself from your surroundings - even for ten mins - go outside; Do some contemplative work and recall when you have overcome feeling this way before. How did you feel when the situation resolved itself?. You've got this. Keep shining your light and carry on being YOU. Dawn x
01.01.2022 In a past life I was a Facilities Manager (FM) looking after commercial office properties and a shopping centre. Whilst I was an FM it gave me great experience liaising with management and leadership teams. From the ground up - cleaners, tradies and security (the nuts and bolts of any building operation) to the executive committee plus the myriad of management companies representing tenants and owners - I had to wear many hats. Managing expectations was a pre-requisite for ...this role as well as a level of knowledge in the building operations/engineering side. When managing expectations you have to engage in a certain level of communication to ensure balance within the built environment. Without clear, concise and frequent communication you put relationships at risk. When these relationships start to falter, it effects so many other aspects of the business although mainly trust. Trust gets eroded when people don't know what's happening, when people are not being kept in the loop, when things happen without prior knowledge. My motto was to always be transparent and supply all of the information and they can take away whatever they deem important. It may not be directly related to what I do today but I believe it's one of the things that gives me a point of difference in the coaching I offer.
