08.01.2022 Struggling with anxiety, stress, concentrating? I have found mindfulness for myself to really help with this. Last year when I was going through a lot of stress, I was feeling quite overwhelmed, anxious, I couldnt sleep or kept waking up. I wasnt even able to meditate effectively....so I went back to basics and practiced mindfulness on a daily basis, it helped me to get back on track, to stop ruminating, worrying, overthinking ..... and helped me to listen to my body commu...nications...The stress, the back aches, the shallow breathing, the anger, the lack of concentration.... were all my bodys way of saying: "I need to talk to you, this isnt working any more". It was only when I stopped to take time out to feel what was going on in my body and listen to the thoughts I was thinking, that I became more consciously aware that all of these thoughts and feelings had to do with my work environment and that meant things had to change. We have a habit of ignoring or pushing aside unpleasant feelings and thoughts, however this doesnt work long term because the body keeps expressing how you are really feeling...if you ignore it, it speaks up, yells at you if it has too...anything to get your attention.... to bring you back into a state of balance. Ive now left my corporate job, which had been fulfilling for 15 and a half years.... because I realised that I wasnt happy anymore... I realised this fully when I practiced mindfulness.... you see I had been ignoring these body signals because I had strong work ethics and beliefs around work...however once I began practicing mindfulness again.... I realised that they were learned beliefs ....which could be changed to beliefs that were more nurturing....so, armed with this knowledge, I was able to change my work environment. Im teaching mindfulness because I know that there are many others like me who put off their happiness, stay overwhelmed or anxious not knowing that something as simple as mindfulness can make a huge difference to how you feel. Ive taught meditation for 30 years but sometimes the simplicity of mindfulness is what is required.
