13.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT - Just had an email from a Member who wishes to remain anonymous...the Anonymous Member was walking down McIntosh Rd, Altona North near the Circle shops around 9pm tonight and a guy who was hiding in a front yard has jumped out and assaulted them both...Called 000 and pretty much got nothing from the Police as all they could say was that he was wearing black pants black hoodie....keep your eyes out and be careful.

05.01.2022 THIS ART WORK IS UNDER THREAT - THE ARTIST IS BEING GAGGED! The artist who created this piece of public art has been asked to remove important parts of it by the Council. The part in question is the drawings on the face, which are important symbols (read the artist's notes below). I have written to [email protected] to explain that I think that we need to empower women and artists, and instead the artist is being disempowered and oppressed. I am offended tha...t this being asked in my name, as a resident who is represented by the Maribyrnong City Council. I hope that some of you can also find the time to drop Nicola an email and share your views. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, I would just like her to hear from more people in the community. I got in touch with the artist, Kelly Manning, to ask about the significance of these and this is what she said: "So besides the obvious Joan of Arc, Freya, Benazir Bhutto, Jung Sung-Sook the markings on her face are tattoos and they reference Dulong, Armenian, Bosnian, Algerian women who tattooed themselves during wartime to appear ugly and therefore less likely to be raped or used for slavery. I think they must have been incredibly brave women. After wartime this would usually bring shame, they are the unsung war heroes. For me to remove them would be a further slap in the face to these incredibly admirable women." Edit: Someone asked if the Council commissioned the work. The Council approved the proposal, which included a full description and concept drawings.Then someone in the community complained afterwards. 04.01.2022 WILLIAMSTOWN ALERT ! Ok guys, take care out there. Have just seen on another page that there has been a series of robberies tonight near the north williamstown train station/ champion road area. Apparently he is wearing a mask like from the scream movies and actually took the keys and stole a car from a woman in her own home who was inside with her children. Latest was that he took off on foot after causing quite a few accidents along champion road in the ladies car. Loco your doors and windows guys and if you see anything suspicious ... Do not approach him but call the police
