22.01.2022 STEAL FROM MOTOR VEHICLES In recent weeks there has been a spike in steal from motor vehicles in the Dulwich Hill and Lewisham areas. All of these vehicles were left unlocked. Inner West Police are are urging community members to be mindful of removing valuables from sight and ensuring their vehicles are locked when unattended.... If you see anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles please note their description and call police on 131444. We will attend as soon as possible and conduct patrols of the area.

21.01.2022 VIDEO CALLS - SCAM ALERT Inner West Police have received reports of a new scam targeting vulnerable victims via video calls. The group hacks into the victims video call and freezes their computer, an alert then comes up on the screen statingYour account has been compromised and instructions are given to call Microsoft on a phone number supplied. The group then advises the victim that their security software is not working and offers a $120 refund. The victim is asked to... log onto their online banking to confirm they have received the refund. When the victim does this the group are able to hack into their account and move money into their main account. The group then advises the victim they have transferred the incorrect amount asking for the money to be transferred back to them. Yesterday a victim was defrauded for over $9000 by this method. Please be alert to this new fraud method, we don’t want anyone else falling victim to these scammers.

20.01.2022 Police are appealing for public information to find a man missing from Sydney’s Inner West since last week. Ezra Saunders, aged 26, was last seen leaving his h...ome on Anderton Street, Marrickville, about 11am on Tuesday 17 November 2020. Officers from Inner West Police Area Command were notified of his disappearance later that morning and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts. Inquiries have led police to believe Ezra may have spent some time in the ACT in recent days. Police and family have concerns for Ezra’s welfare. Ezra is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 186cm tall, of slim build, with shoulder-length, brown, curly hair, and a moustache. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and shorts. Police are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. 19.01.2022 Inner West Police are appealing for assistance from the public to identify the depicted female. Police believe the female can assist with investigations into an incident which occurred at a business on King St, Newtown about 3.00pm on Sunday 6th September 2020. The female is described as 40 - 50 years old, about 165cm tall, medium build, brown hair in a pony-tail, wearing a black sweater, long black skirt, black joggers, sunglasses and carrying a black backpack.... 14.01.2022 The NSW Police Force welcomed 192 new probationary constables at the NSW Police Academy today at a restricted attestation ceremony. The 130 men and 62 women of Class 343 will undertake 12 months of ‘on-the-job’ training and will also complete the Associate Degree in Policing Practice with Charles Sturt University before being confirmed to the rank of constable. Well done and good luck on your policing careers.

12.01.2022 Yesterday we had puppy visits and today we got to meet one of the Inner West’s most senior dogs! Meet Stitch, he’s an 18 year old German Spitz X (that’s 128 human years!) Although Stitch is deaf and almost completely blind, he still enjoys his daily walks and was an absolute joy to meet and cuddle. What a cutie!

11.01.2022 A convenience store attendant has been assaulted during a robbery in Sydney’s Inner West this morning. About 5.15am (Friday 13 November 2020), police were call...ed to a convenience store on King Street, Newtown, following reports two males entered the store and threatened the employee. Police have been told the employee, 23-year-old man, was pushed to the ground and punched several times. The pair stole cash and cigarettes, before leaving with two other males who were waiting outside. The attendant did not require medical treatment. Officers from Inner West Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Anyone who attended the following venue at the times listed below is a casual contact who must get tested immediately and self-isolate until a negative result is received. 11.01.2022 Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a fail to stop pedestrian crash at Newtown last night. About 6.30pm (Thursday 12 November 2020), a... 41-year-old woman was crossing King Street, at the intersection of Union Street, when she was hit by a vehicle that did not stop The woman fell to the ground; however, she was able to attend a nearby supermarket where emergency services were contacted. She was treated at the scene before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Officers from Inner West Police Area Command commenced inquiries and are searching for the driver of the vehicle, described as a red Mazda hatchback. Anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle is urged to come forward.
