25.01.2022 A huge thank you to @alfonsothephotographer for sharing your wonderful Tasmania photos with us. It was fascinating to listen to you #innerwestphoto

22.01.2022 Today is World Photobook Day and to celebrate we are sharing this unique photobook found in the MGA Collection by artist Wesley Stacey. Wesley Stacey (1941 ) s...tudied drawing and design at East Sydney Technical College before working as a graphic designer and photographer in Sydney and London in the early 1960s. In the late 1960s he worked as a magazine photographer in Sydney and from 196975 he worked as a freelance commercial photographer. He often used a Kodak Instamatic camera during the seventies, making series of informal images of his friends and recording his environment. In 1973 Stacey helped establish the Australian Centre for Photography. Stacey is one of Australia’s most important living photographers. His work has been exhibited widely, including Serpentine Gallery, London, Art Gallery of New South Wales, and a retrospective at the National Gallery of Australia in 1991. His work is included in most significant public collections in Australia, including NGA, NGV and AGNSW. Stacey continues to work from a base on the South Coast of New South Wales. Stacey’s photobooks are rare and highly celebrated aspects of his practice. ‘Driving thru kitsch’ is an example of the books he made using an instamatic camera to record his road trips. Want to see more? Check out our stories, and later in the highlights, to see some detail views. 06.01.2022 Was great to catch up with everyone at our last meeting, some quite emotional stories were shared and we all got to know each other a little better. Photography doesn't have to be a perfectly framed, sharp, award winning shot. It can be so much more. Thanks to everyone who shared their images. #innerwestphoto
