25.01.2022 Walks, swims, swaddles, cinema. It’s not easy for those with busy lives to relax, which is why we have a program designed for retreaters to find their way into their parasympathetic state.

25.01.2022 Went live tonight with first online yoga class. We had about 20 attendees (more than most of our face to face classes), and despite a few hiccups and a lot of make-shifting, Id have to say Im pretty happy with the result. We have such an awesome community. Stay tuned for another session next week!

24.01.2022 March retreat: one room left! Thinking about time away for yourself? We have one room left on our March yoga retreat. These are some pics from last year. I remember feeling a little disappointed that it was a rainy weekend but it ended up being perfect for cosy practices and rest! Join us for an indulgent weekend of self care and allow your spirit to be nurtured. March 20-22, 2020. @ Yanada

23.01.2022 Studying the Yoga Sutras at the moment and contemplating my nabhicakre (aka naval chakra, aka manipura chakra, aka our energy centre for will power). The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is one of the foundational texts of yoga and Im loving the opportunity to dive into this. #manipura #yogasutras #sutra29

22.01.2022 Term 2 classes will be online as isolation efforts continue. If you are unsure about this, or just want to try out our practice, we have a free session this Wednesday, 8 April at 7pm. Register using this link: https://us02web.zoom.us//upcvdeqoqzwoHJBwdfx4J8IHjiEY3BV1Hg Feedback from last weeks online session Loved the class! Strong slow and gentle. Perfect! You were in full view the whole time. Well done! You're a great teacher. If youd like the video from last week, send me a message with your email address and I will forward to you.

22.01.2022 Buddhist philosophy talks of suffering being caused by an aversion to what is present; or a craving for something different. The practice of acceptance (which involves being aware of our thoughts; and then wisely choosing our responses) is one way to help reduce our suffering.

21.01.2022 Yoga classes are still going ahead for time being. The hall is large and our numbers are small so we can practice social distancing. Use of props in classes have been suspended. Mat spray is available if you wish to use, but please byo sponge/towel to wipe down your own mats. There is hand sanitizer in the hall. Please dont come to class if you have Coronavirus symptoms (fever, sore throat, coughing, difficulty breathing), been in contact within 14 days of anyone who has Cor...onavirus, or returned from overseas in the last 14 days. Remember heightened hygiene practices (elbow coughs, regular hand washing with soap, not touching your face). This weekends retreat has been rescheduled to October 16-18, 2020, assuming we can get on top of Covid-19 by then. Stay safe and be kind. Namaste. #coronavirusyoga

20.01.2022 How amazing are our sunsets lately? This pic was taken over the weekend. Another recent change has been online yoga. We had over 100 people engage with our online yoga classes during our free trial period. 74% of survey respondents rated the experience as being very high or high quality. That is encouragement enough for me to run Term 2 online, starting on Wednesday. Check out the details on the new Timetable page on our website. Stay safe and keep washing those hands!https://www.innerwestyoga.com/timetable

20.01.2022 Each retreat is special for its own reasons. We held ours a couple of weeks ago, and its been such a big year that there is no shortage of reasons why it was going to be meaningful. But for me reflecting back and processing the retreat, it was all about my teacher @mitch.gibson.yoga. This first pic was of she and I celebrating one of her successful retreats that I used to regularly assist on. She gave me my first gig teaching yoga to teenagers in Lane Cove which I did for thr...ee years. I completed her restorative yoga training as I wanted to run a retreat and felt it was what was required to elevate the offering. My assistant on retreat was @wendymillyardyoga who I met at Mitch’s restorative training, someone who got the immeasurable care required to teach restorative yoga, and is an all round beautiful soul. Also on our retreat was Trish, a long time student of Mitch’s (and frequent retreater) who is now a student of Wendy’s since Mitch sold her studio in Lane Cove. So all weekend, we were invoking Mitch, and when people say how amazing their retreat experience was, I must reflect and pay homage to my teacher, and the wonder of her. Photos highlighting the retreat are now up on the website, accessible via the Gallery page. Link in comments. #yogalineage #legacy

19.01.2022 This feels amazing, try it on yourself.

18.01.2022 Time to unwind.

18.01.2022 Take it easy and be kind to yourself.

18.01.2022 Welcome to our new online studio! FREE 60 MINUTE TRIAL CLASS on Wednesday April 1, 2020, 7pm. If you would like to join, please provide your email address (by private message or email to [email protected]) and I will send you through a zoom link to access the session. This is new territory for me (and acknowledging that this is a strange new world for all of us). Ive managed to eke our some space in my tiny inner west abode to be able to lead an online class. Im still in the market for a webcam (anyone got one they want to sell me, seriously, everywhere is sold out?!), otherwise will make do with the camera on my phone/laptop for now. I do have a headset, so the audio should be okwhich is probably the most important thing. Lets see how we go! #onlineyoga #corona #stayhome

15.01.2022 This lotus mudra (hand gesture) is to remind us that it is from the muddy, murky and challenging circumstances that we grow, bloom and prosper. The beautiful lotus flower (padme in Sanskrit) only grows in mud. With all this mud we are wading through at the moment, the other side is bound to be spectacular! For now, social distancing efforts need to ramp up to control COVID-19. As such, I will be cancelling yoga classes until further notice, effective immediately. Tonight's ...class will not be on. I am investigating the option of online classes as a means to support your practice whilst isolating. Wishing you all the best in these challenging times. Please look after yourselves. I cannot wait to see you again on the other side. If you feel like invoking the mantra of the lotus, it is Om mani padme hum. Please look after yourselves and be kind to each other. #socialdistancing #ommanipadmehum #coronavirusyoga

15.01.2022 Come get some tonight with yoga at 6:30pm

14.01.2022 Apart from the front foot placement in his lunges, these yoga skits are pretty funny

14.01.2022 A simple exercise as a predictor of life expectancy in this interesting study.

14.01.2022 Inner West highlights on a gorgeous spring afternoon. #stanmore #newtown

14.01.2022 Due to COVID-19, this years retreat has been moved to October 16-18. A spring retreat is likely to mean more time outdoors, colorful foods, and perhaps some wildflowers. There are still spots available if you are feeling like you need a little retreat from the craziness of 2020. Detailed brochure link in comments @ Yanada

13.01.2022 Apologies for short notice. The school experienced some significant damage as a result of last weeks storms, requiring urgent repair work over the coming weekend. For our safety, its recommended no one be on site on Saturday or Sunday. Love to see you on Monday 24/2 for a gentler practice, or else Saturday classes as usual from 29/2. Thanks for your understanding.

12.01.2022 When I have the foresight to see that I have a stressful work period coming up, I make an extra effort to prioritize the other segments in the bottom chart. When I dont have this foresight, I am the top chart and things become overwhelming. My yoga practice is developing this insight. #yogaoffthemat

12.01.2022 Some useful tips to get present. Being present can help us out of overwhelm. I was late for a meeting today. Being late for something usually makes me anxious. I had to remind myself to notice my breath, my body temperature, my heartbeat, my thoughts. You know there is research to say emotions only reside for 90 seconds in the body? Then it passes. Once it passed, I was able to focus on getting to my appointment as calmly as I could. I was still late, just not so agitated.

12.01.2022 We are going to go ahead with our twilight yoga fundraiser (for the rural fire service) today at 5:30pm in Jubilee Park. Lets meet near the big palm trees. The air quality whilst not ideal is an improvement on yesterday. My app does suggest though that sensitive groups should avoid outdoor exercise. Look after yourselves!

11.01.2022 We are on a break! I hope you have a wonderful festive season, and enjoy a well-earned a rest. I dont know about you but Im ready to let go of 2019. Bring on the new decade! See you back on the mat on Monday 27 January 2020. Do you like the tree? This was taken at Vaucluse House, a grand, historical Sydney property. Worth a visit if youve never been. For those wanting to gift yoga for Christmas (perhaps even to ones self), there are a few spots still available on March r...etreat, as well as yoga vouchers available. #yogagifts #vauclusehouse @sydlivmus

11.01.2022 Thousands rallied, many stayed indoors, 3 yogic souls showed up for yoga. We raised $50 for @nswrfs, donated today. Everyone doing what they can in these unprecedented times.

10.01.2022 Our March retreat is sold out! Sooo looking forward to this weekend of nurturance. If you missed out this time around get on our mailing list to hear about the next one. #selfcare #weekendretreat

09.01.2022 The Yoga Foundation do great work bringing yoga to marginalised communities. I'm very excited to be kicking off a program with them, teaching yoga to teenagers at a Youth Off the Street school. The Yoga Foundation are holding a Zoom trivia night on October 28 (next Wednesday) to raise funds for programs like this. Tickets are $50, include raffle tickets, and are available below. Love to see you there!

08.01.2022 Over the last few days, Ive been undertaking restorative yoga teacher training with one of the best teachers and pioneers of this style, @mitch.gibson.yoga. I love this style because its deeply restful and something I look forward to offering on retreat. Ive been nervous to offer in a regular class as Im not sure people are ready for so little doing, and so much surrendering to the nervous system. Are you willing to do nothing so you can deeply relax? We will use props to support us into poses, and then give ourselves over to the pose. Doing nothing else: its a radical form of self care! #restorativeyoga

07.01.2022 What a mad world. Hope you are managing ok and have had an opportunity to recharge. We have COVID safe options to support your practice in Term 3. New dates, additional classes including livestream sessions and online booking are now available on website. Link in bio. Look forward to seeing you in person or virtually from next week! (Pic was from recent getaway to Morpeth, lovely town in Hunter region, so nice to get away).

07.01.2022 I’ll just leave this here.

06.01.2022 When even gentle movement feels like too much, there is restorative yoga. #yogaprops #cocooning

06.01.2022 Loved the light on my late afternoon walk today. Hope you are having a good Easter weekend, isolated as we are at the moment.

06.01.2022 For those around Milton and looking for some yoga, this is one way to do something amazing for yourself as well as support the local community.

06.01.2022 Hope youve had a good break! We are back on Monday 27 January, 2020. Safe, inclusive yoga for all bodies. If you have avoided yoga because you think you are not good at touching your toes, let 2020 be the year that you let that idea go. Look forward to seeing you on the mat!

06.01.2022 An insight direct from Elizabeth Gilberts journal that you might find useful. I did. @elizabeth_gilbert_writer

05.01.2022 Love this post from my friend and teacher Mitch Gibson Yoga.

02.01.2022 Self care is prioritizing whats important. When I feel exhausted for a sustained period, its usually a sign to re-visit my priorities.

01.01.2022 Meditation, yoga, group work, and it’s not even lunchtime. A lot of inner work happens on retreat. But also lots of luxurious hours to explore nature, connect with others and the self. I echo the sentiments of retreaters how many weeks can we stay...?
