25.01.2022 NICK CAVE & WARREN ELLIS - Carnage Released 28 May 2021 Carnage is a new album by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, recorded over a period of weeks during lockdown. Although the pair have composed & recorded many soundtracks together, and Ellis is a long-term member of The Bad Seeds, this is the first time they have released an entire album of songs as a duo. Cave describes the album as a brutal but very beautiful record nested in a communal catastrophe. Making Carnage was an acce...lerated process of intense creativity, says Ellis, the eight songs were there in one form or another within the first two and a half days. Cave & Ellis’ sonic and lyrical adventurism continues apace on Carnage, an album that emerged almost by accident out of the downtime created by the long, anxious, global emergency. Carnage is a record for these uncertain times - one shot through with moments of distilled beauty and that resonates with an almost defiant sense of hope. #nickcave #warrenellis #innerwestvinyl #innerwestmelbourne #innerwest #vinylcommunity #vinyl #community #yarravillevillage #yarraville #supportlocal #shoplocal See more

16.01.2022 KRAFTWERK - The Man-Machine (1976) - First Press JAPAN on Capitol Records in VG+/VG with Obi and Picture Labels The Man-Machine is closer to the sound and style that would define early new wave electro-pop - less minimalistic in its arrangements and more complex and danceable in its underlying rhythms. Like its predecessor, Trans-Europe Express, there is the feel of a divided concept album, with some songs devoted to science fiction-esque links between humans and technology, ...often with electronically processed vocals. This album had a huge influence on electronica around the world but particularly the UK where it imposed heavily on the New-Romantic movement. #kraftwerk #themanmachine #secondhandrecords #innerwestvinyl #innerwestmelbourne #innerwest #vinylcommunity #vinyl #community #yarravillevillage #yarraville #supportlocal #shoplocal See more

11.01.2022 STEVEN WILSON - The Future Bites Fans of this dude have been primed for The Future Bites since he released To the Bone in 2017. That record, and the preceding 4 EP, were deliberately "pop" responses to his three-album dalliance with prog - Raven That Refused to Sing, Hand. Cannot. Erase, and Grace for Drowning. In contrast to the above, The Future Bites is a slick exercise in Wilson's oft-articulated love of synth pop and electronic music. The production on these nine songs ...is slick, even icy. It contrasts sharply with most of Wilson's songwriting that remains saturated in welcoming, effusive melodies and hooks. On most tracks, guitars and drums are subservient to keyboards and electronic rhythms and soundscapes. One of the best albums of 2021 so far! #stevenwilson #thefuturebites #innerwestvinyl #innerwestmelbourne #innerwest #vinylcommunity #vinyl #community #yarravillevillage #yarraville #supportlocal #shoplocal See more

09.01.2022 MARTIN REV - Cheyenne Martin Rev is best known as one half of the duo Suicide (with Alan Vega). Suicide mirrored the reductive and radical traits of the contemporaneous punk scene that was in the process of emerging, but their electronic, minimalist form of language was so unique, so innovative, that they would become a major influence on the likes of Daft Punk, Air and Aphex Twin. Although it was not released until 1991, Martin Rev’s third solo album features a wealth of mat...erial from the year 1980. For Cheyenne, Rev created instrumental versions of many of the tracks which had formed the basis of the second Suicide LP entitled Alan Vega / Martin Rev. The sphere of Martin Rev’s influence and the relevance of his music may well be related to the fact that he was one of the first artists who succeeded in grasping the abstraction of electronic music, infusing it with a sense of immediacy built on raw energy. Rev’s music is informed by characteristic influences of New York City, a place where doo-wop harmonies intermingle with the hiss and hum of the metropolis, dissolving into a collage of noise. So it is that dreamy, chiming melodies blur into ominous whirrs and drones emanating from rhythm machines and layers of distorted synthesizer. #MartinRev #innerwestvinyl #innerwestmelbourne #innerwest #vinylcommunity #vinyl #community #yarravillevillage #yarraville #supportlocal #shoplocal See more
