Inner Wheel By awarding a prize for moral courage, six Munich Inner Wheel Clubs are setting an example for more tolerance and humanity in society. The award ceremony was attended by the public with great interest. The prize was awarded to Bavarian teachers who have shown particular commitment to the teaching of moral courage in their schools. The award ceremony took place at the end of October 2020 in Munic. Due to the limited space available at the event as a result of corona measures, the event was broadcast live in the online stream on the homepage. " Moral courage concerns us all", said the Bavarian Minister of Culture, Prof. Dr. Michael Piazolo in his video message. He thanked the teachers for their commitment and the Inner Wheelers for their great dedication to this topic. The National Representative of Inner Wheel Germany, Beatrix von Fassong, stressed in her personal greeting: "Where war, politics and environmental disasters threaten to unhinge the world; where values threaten to lose their value; where courage is needed to defend these values with civil courage. All this must be underlined today with this prize. Congratulations to the organisers of this prize! Four schools were nominated, the prize money was 5000 Euros and another 500 Euros were awarded for a special prize. The winner was the girl school St. Josef in Schwandorf, Bavaria, "We are very happy", said project manager Daniela Amrein. "This award means a lot to all of us. I like to invest my heart and soul every day and get involved in teaching. The students give it back in a great way!" The next award ceremony will take place in 2022

16.01.2022 We love days in the office when we get notification of a #SchoolBag distribution and what makes them even more exciting is when we’ve got them into a new countr...y - and today is one of those days! 240 SchoolBags have gone to Guinea Bissau, which is country number 46, and brings our total so far to 119,172 distributed SchoolBags! This is a project we’ve worked on with our partners, Humanity First International, and they’ve sent us this gorgeous video of some of the children receiving their SchoolBags A bit more info about the project: 185 SchoolBags were distributed to children in one day across schools/communities in the city of Bissau. The help of 70 local volunteers was used through the process of collection from port, load, unload, storage, and distribution day. The distribution was attended by local radio stations and journalist as well as representatives from the Ministry of Education who spoke very highly of the work. A LOT of work goes on to make a SchoolBag distribution happen, and we are eternally grateful from our donors right through to our partners and volunteers so ensure it all happens. If you’d like to fund a SchoolBag yourself, you can do so here: https://www.schoolinabag.org/product/fund-a-school-bag/ #SchoolBags #GuineaBissau #TransformingLivesThroughEducation

14.01.2022 A documentary against violence In September, we continued with our work tasks in IWC Pula - Croatia -District 191. One of the things we did is that we decided ...to have our meeting outdoors surrounded by the lovely countryside. We all agreed it was a wonderful experience. We were engaged a lot in executing two donations: The first donation was made to the Music School IM Ronjgova Pula in the amount of HRK 4.000 for the purpose of tuition for Leonard Rojni, a very talented and gifted student of the school. The second donation was made to Danilo Ili Lola in the amount of HRK 1.000 for making a documentary called If he beats you, it means he loves you. The film focuses on violence against women, domestic violence and juvenile violence, which is considered as "normal" and explores the root cause of the problem and trying to find solutions of stopping this kind of violence. The shooting of the film is also supported by the Safe House Istria, which has been actively dealing with this issue for fifteen years, providing women who are victims of domestic violence and their children with accommodation and various types of support. The letter of support states: "We are pleased with the project that will point out the problem of violence against women and perhaps an even greater problem of the inertia of the system that should offer protection and stop this behavior which is more or less accepted as normal behavior."
