24.01.2022 One of the first issues that arises when returning to work after children is the matter of work/life balance. It can be hard to achieve even without the extra demands that come with little ones and managing a household. But dont despair! There are steps you can take to help with the transition and to maintain sanity! 1) Mindset shift Be prepared for a fresh mindset that is in line with a new normal. Having less time for yourself or with your little one can be extremely dif...ficult at first, but just being ready to acknowledge, accept and commit to change will produce far more positive results than resisting it or trying to force things. 2) Plan ahead Keep a centralised diary (electronic or even on the fridge). Running family and business is a team effort, so knowing who is picking up who at what time eases stress in the home. Doing things like trying to get ahead of administration work and accruing personal days can help when the unexpected pops up which it will! If you map out a plan and things start to go off course, assess the situation and be prepared to change your plans accordingly. 3) Be clear about what you want Set and document goals around your life. You dont have to go overboard, but having defined career, family, financial, personal, physical and spiritual goals can really help identify a clear direction at a time when chaos can reign. It will also help ensure youre giving attention to all facets of your life and not placing too much focus on one area. 4) Dont Balance Integrate! Balance is a misnomer Aim for an INTEGRATED life! The goal is not to have a work me, home me, friend me. There is one you that invests time and energy in different areas. For example in career, ask yourself is this an authentic expression of who I am? If your strengths, interests, motivation and purpose all align, career will integrate comfortably into your life. If not, maintaining a healthy balance will be a constant tension. No matter how integrated your life is, returning to work can be overwhelming especially if the role youre going back to isnt authentic to you. Email [email protected] for a free survey and we will help identify if your career is a good fit for you.

23.01.2022 Presenting can be a daunting prospect no matter how many or how few people you are in front of. Here are 3 quick tips to help you conquer your nerves and nail your next presentation! 1 REFLECT:... Its always best to present content that is a reflection of you and your passions. When you do this you are sharing a part of yourself with others, which can be very empowering. If this isnt possible, try to present it in your own personal style that reflects your own unique flavour. You can do this in many ways, but remember that your words only account for approx 10% of your message while tone represents 35% and body language communicates 55% of what you are presenting. 2 CONNECT: Making a connection with a room full of strangers can seem like a big ask, so simplify it! Make eye contact, smile and wherever possible share some of your story as part of your presentation content. People can more easily connect with you if they hear your story and it resonates with them. Also, making yourself approachable rubs off on those around you. 3 PROJECT: Sometimes the simplest things make a big difference. Projecting your voice at an appropriate level will help in effectively transmitting your messages. This doesnt mean shouting. It means speaking clearly with confidence and, when you get to key points, lifting your projection even more so people sit up and take notice. We hope this helps you with your next presentation! 21.01.2022 The New Year is a time when we reflect and plan for change. Most people focus on health and fitness goals, because with small lifestyle tweaks and dedication, great things can be achieved. Making healthy changes is fantastic, but all too often people forget about other important aspects of life - like their career. An often overlooked fact is that your career is one of the strongest factors influencing your well being. We invest around 50 years of our lives either at work o...r thinking about work. When you take that in and reflect, ask yourself "am I investing in my career wisely and is my career really where I want it to be?" Are you dreading going back to work? Does anxiety or depression descend upon you on Sunday evenings? Has work become a "have to" rather than "want to?" Would you like to make change but dont know where to start? Well, 2017 can be different! With InnerZone, you can gain an understanding of your strengths and how to use them for greater success, increased happiness and enhanced wellbeing. You can design a career path from the "inside-out", that is authentic to you, your values and your goals. You CAN have a career that you love, that has purpose and that delivers satisfaction and fulfilment. With a range of programs to choose from, our coaching can change the game for you and take your career to the next level. Designed by experts, our programs are proven to get results - and there is a program suitable for all circumstances, budgets and time constraints. Dont let history repeat itself. Do something positive for yourself and make 2017 YOUR YEAR! The team at InnerZone helped us make positive impacts, and quickly. I highly recommend their innovative approach to leaders seeking coaching at any time, but especially in times of transition. InnerZones approach to coaching and outplacement services is valuable, effective and refreshing - I recommend you give it a go. - Duncan, Urban Growth NSW

20.01.2022 YOUR 2019 HALF TIME BREAK How to Refocus in Minutes The first half of 2019 is now gone. The whistle has blown and it is time to take a brief pause before getting back into the action. As an NRL fan, I like watching the footage at half time and seeing how the coaches prepare players during the brief break. Great coaches help players to quickly re-flect, re-new & re-focus.... Ever wondered what they say in the rooms? Well, join me here is your chance to enter the change room for your 2019 half-time break. REFLECT What you are doing really well is.. Keep doing that! What isnt working for you is.. Stop it! Leave it behind! Any thing that is frustrating you, its time to let it go now. Carrying any blame or excuses around in the second half will not serve you or do you any favours, it just consumes important energy that is better directed elsewhere. RENEW How is your mind and body right now? Where have you been wasting time and energy? Stop it! Leave it behind! What needs refreshing / topping up? Do it now! REFOCUS Remind me, what do you really want in this second half? Ok, then. What is the most important thing for you to focus on right now? If you are being authentic, you will know what it is What is your number 1 strength that you can take advantage of? Use it and double down on it! FINAL WORDS Good. Breath deep. Clear your mind now. Just trust yourself in the little moments, they are going to present themselves to you at the right time. Believe that you can and will make the right decisions at the right time. Go for it! #strengths #purpose #goals #career #education #nrl #coach #coaching #careerdesign #psychology

18.01.2022 InnerZone Wins Major Outplacement Contract InnerZone is delighted to have been selected as the Outplacement provider for all outgoing employees at the Australian Technology Park (ATP) in Redfern. A significant number of employees are experiencing redundancy due to the recent high profile sale of ATP.... James Barry, Director of Finance and Corporate Services at ATP, commented InnerZone were a clear stand out when we reviewed the market. They offer a unique approach and staff feedback has been very strongly positive. The CEO of InnerZone, Richard Burton pointed out that there is a perception that Outplacement is just about resume writing to get the next job. We believe people need so much more than that at such a key point in their lives. The stress and anxiety people experience whilst at work is now more significant than ever. They want to take full advantage of the opportunity to stop. Our approach applies an exclusive formula that helps people connect with their personal strengths, passionate motivators and purpose, in order to define their career direction. We also inspire people to pinpoint meaningful goals that accelerate their overall well-being. Megan Sloane, Executive Officer HR at ATP, said we took comfort from the depth of knowledge that the InnerZone coaching team has in career change. 08.01.2022 Returning to work after having children can be an incredibly daunting prospect. There are the emotional aspects that need to be endured, such as dealing with spending time away from the little ones, as well as practical considerations, like flexibility to do school or day care pickups. When considering going back to work, bigger questions may surface for you. Primarily, is the role youre returning to is right for you now and in the future? Do you really want to be in this ro...le or is it purely for the money? Financial concerns are incredibly important with a young family, but the return to work can be even more difficult if youre returning to a career that you werent happy in prior to starting a family. The thought of going back to a career that isnt authentic to you as an individual can be incredibly deflating and lead to disengagement, lack of motivation and under-performance, as well as putting you at increased risk of stress, anxiety, depression and other mental health concerns. So, if you could click your fingers and have a role you would dearly love, would it be this role? If your old career isnt the right fit, but you feel stuck with it, start there. Just realising it isnt you is a very important insight. What to do next might involve sticking it out, changing roles, or even changing careers. But, awareness is a key initial step. An empowering mindset to adopt is to understand that you have a unique contribution to make via your career. That contribution will become apparent when you: Get in touch with your strengths, understand them and capture how they can help you and others Become cognisant of what continually grabs your attention, what youre passionate about and what you love to do Capture what truly motivates you and the issues that you care deeply about. This holds the key to living out a career of purpose and meaning If youre facing the proposition of returning to work and dont know where to start, please write to us at [email protected] to receive our free survey that will help you to understand if the role you are returning to is right for you.

05.01.2022 This week the students from @stlukesmp presented their Passion Projects as part of the Pathways program we run in conjunction with the school. There were a lot of nervous students taking part, so Head Coach Richard took them through his 3 tips for presenting (more on that in future posts!), then guided them trough a visualisation to assist in building confidence for all in the room. The standard of presentation was remarkable, with the students visibly energised by th...eir projects. It was very special to see a room of fully engaged young people supporting each other and interacting with such positivity. Special thanks to the outstanding teachers and staff who helped and to the students for investing themselves so heavily in their projects. See more

03.01.2022 The challenges associated with the transition from a professional sports career have been highlighted in terrible and tragic circumstances this week. At the core of those challenges is the issue of mental health. Since becoming a professional coach in 2010, I have been privileged to be entrusted with helping peoples career direction, their performance and life well-being. In that time I have seen first hand that mental health concerns are extremely common, yet are still down...played or hidden by many. One of the real highlights for me in recent times has been working with Dan Price. Twelve months ago Dan was at a difficult and frustrating career crossroads, but more importantly than that he was suffering deeply with depression and anxiety. Though outwardly he was a picture of success and happiness, inside he was anything but. Dans battle with mental illness and subsequent transformation from suicide attempt to mental health spokesman is absolutely inspiring. He is now a crusader, sharing his story in the hopes of helping others, and embodies what I call "living on purpose". I admire his commitment to being brutally honest and vulnerable, and in doing so showing others - especially men - just how powerful this act is. Since sharing his experiences, Dan has been contacted by people from all over the world admitting that suicide was on their agenda, but they found hope thanks to his story. Dan is living proof that there is always hope if you live on purpose! http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au//d0bee61eface730ec88db65c
