President Nadine Picini and Vice President Gordon McPherson-Rayner had a great walk around town with Cassowary Coast Regional Council Mayor Mark Nolan and Deputy Mayor Barry Barnes, pointing out areas that need improvement to help Innisfail grow and flourish! We need to clean up our front yard to make Innisfail more inviting for Investment and Tourism.

14.01.2022 News Update | Restrictions Easing in QLD CCIQ has been calling for restrictions to be eased and while we celebrate this win for the community, these changes ...in restriction are still not helping many of Queensland’s SMALL BUSINESSES. These businesses rely on Christmas activity more than ANY other industry in Queensland yet restrictions continue to limit their viability. Restrictions still remain for: 25,600 retailers 17,800 accommodation and hospitality providers 5,400 art and recreational providers - Restrictions eased from 4pm Nov 17: Up to 50 people can gather in homes and public spaces across Queensland Person limits in indoor premises will increase from 1 person per 4 square metres to 1 person per 2 square metres Up to 200 people can attend weddings and funerals, and all guests can dance at weddings, both indoors and outdoors Seated, ticketed indoor events like theatre, live music, cinemas and sports can increase patron numbers from 50% to 100% Outdoor events can have up to 1,500 people attend with a COVID Safe Event Checklist Open air stadiums can increase seated capacity from 75% to 100% with a COVID Safe Plan Outdoor dancing will be allowed See more

13.01.2022 BREAKING: Queensland borders will close to New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory from 1am this Saturday, August 8. All visitors will be denied en...try except for rare exemptions and returning Queenslanders will have to pay for 14 days mandatory hotel quarantine. Queensland’s Chief Health Officer has declared all of New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory as hotspots. Only residents of border communities and essential workers, such as truck drivers, will be able to cross the border. Exemptions including for compassionate reasons will be limited. Passes for border communities will be for those with proof of address and photo ID. The border closure will be reviewed at the end of the month. #covid19au

13.01.2022 BREAKING: Start planning your holiday! We’re opening Queensland for Queenslanders from noon tomorrow. Queenslanders will be able to undertake unlimited travel, ...including overnight stays throughout the entire state, in a major easing of COVID-19 restrictions. More locals will be allowed in cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs, with an increase in the number of patrons from 10 to 20. From noon on Friday, June 5, venues with more space will be allowed up to 20 people in each defined area if they follow an approved COVID Safe Industry Plan. Well done, Queensland. Our state’s outstanding response to the COVID-19 pandemic has allowed restrictions to be lifted ahead of a planned move to Stage Two originally scheduled for June 12. 13.01.2022 NEWS UPDATE The Prime Minister has confirmed that JobKeeper will continue in its current form until 27 September, as per the government’s original plan. Aft...er September the scheme will be extended until March 2021 with some changes. To be eligible beyond September, businesses will still need to show evidence that their turnover is down by 30 per cent or more over the past two quarters due to COVID-19. There will now be two payment levels with the standard payment being reduced to $1200 and $750 for those working less than 20 hours per week.
