The mammoth 8-day event is expected to deliver over $94 million in revenue to the local economy, and attract approximately 400,000 spectators and 300 million global broadcast viewers. 20.01.2022 UOW: University of Wollongong, Australia has teamed up with TEDI-London, a design-led engineering school, in order to assist with their summer program. This summer program will see UOW Researchers share their knowledge with students in the UK to educate them on how to develop a Dementia friendly community in the London area. 20.01.2022 The bushfire crisis of 2019/2020 saw the destruction of over 12 million hectares of land across Eastern Australia, and over 5.4 million hectares in NSW alone. Compared to a typical fire season for NSW which usually averages around 300,000 hectares of burnt land, this past summers fires were unprecedented and have opened up the need for research on what these fires mean for Australia. Over the years catastrophic fires have helped shape Eastern Australia’s l...andscape, resources, and biodiversity. A UOW Research team in 2019 was awarded an ARC Discovery Project Grant to develop tools that would identify and assess the severity of fires over the last 100 years and how these catastrophic events have been shaped by climate change and whether they are getting progressively worse. These post World War II migrant hostels were built to house the influx of migrants coming to settle here in Australia, with over 35,000 people inhabiting these buildings from the 1950's up until the late 1970's. 16.01.2022 UOW: University of Wollongong, Australia students Maheshika Nanayakkara and Asiri Nawarathna planned to fly home and marry in Sri Lanka in May of this year, but unfortunately the global COVID-19 pandemic had other plans for their nuptials.
