Here's a sample: Interestingly, physiotherapy and osteopathy clinics that offer Pilates classes are still able to operate. Their work is essential, despite the fact that in many cases, they are not teaching the sessions. They are employing Pilates teachers for this role. Several thoughts come to mind here: The very limited Western noti...on of health, healthcare, and therapy, which includes only those who identify as sick and in need of rehab. Indeed, in the Western model, exercise as therapy can only involve a precise diagnosis (not unproblematic in itself, and totally physicalist in nature) and include a brief, systematic attempt to put matters right. Conceiving of therapy as improving function and thus giving it a prophylactic, future-directed sense, as an endeavor aimed at improving function and wellbeing is discarded entirely as non-essential. No wonder our system is so broken. See more
